Travis Henry prepared to sit out

Recommended Posts

Henry believes the Shelton trade would help both teams, considering the Bills lost three offensive linemen to free agency earlier this month, including starting left tackle Jonas Jennings, who has since signed with San Francisco.

OK, Mr. Henry- your audition for Buffalo Bills GM is complete. You can go home now and a representative of the Wilson family will review your credentials and call you back if the team is interested.

Allright- who's next here- is Mr. Doody ready for his reading?

Hey Travis, just sit out & forfeit $1.2 million this year.  I'm sure you can afford it.

I found his personal ad on Cupid.com:

Professional athlete, 27 seeking 16 year old or younger girl who can pass for 18 when asked.  Prefer to meet at gas stations.  Until I get traded we must go Dutch Treat, but I promise to pay you back when traded.

Travis & his agent: The new Dumb & Dumber

Didn't you hear.... Travis told TD that he wanted to be traded to a state where the legal age of consent is 14 and above.

If I were TD I'd drag my feet too. By waiting, I:

(1) Reinforce to Shelton's agent that nobody else will be picking him up.

(2) Reinforce to TH's agent that I won't be bullied into accepting fair value.

(3) Keep my second round pick selection nice and cloudy for other owners (TD is a master at this)

(4) Show Travis he doesn't run the show.

I just don't get why all this backlash at Travis is for. Calling a guy stupid and trash, that just seems mean-spirited. That's one of the thing I never got, when so called Bills fans bash guys like Travis and Flutie. They busted their butts to play for this team and were warriors. How many people were bashing Henry when he was the only true weapon we had on the offense in 2003. Add to that the fact he was playing on a partially broken leg and could have done some serious damage. What a jerk!!! How selfish is that guy!!! Henry wants to be a starter and showed he could be in this league. He lost job to a guy who maybe a great one. But I don't blame Travis at all for wanting to go somewhere and start. And how come it automatically assumed that TD isn't the one screwing things up. Henry said it would be a deal to help both teams and he was right. None of us know. But the personal attacks just aren't necessary. I'll remember the Henry who was a very good back, who play hard. Running back careers are short and you need to get the money when you can. But respect Travis for what he did for this team. I hope he gets a shot, and I also hope McGahee is the best rb i nthe league.

Just inane, stupid ramblings from a sack of sh-- scumbag, who also happens to be a bad football player.

Hey, Travis Lovers....do you think that comments like the above help the Buffalo Bills Football Team? Do you think that they help the trade situation? Does this mean that we wont get Robert Gallery nor Jason Taylor in an even swap?   :)  :D

If TD were to cut this miscreant scumbag tomorrow, the Buffalo Bills would gain approx. 1 mil in cap space and be a better franchise.

It really is time to pull the plug on this blight on the history of this wonderful franchise......the Buffalo Bills Football Team!

Yeah, time to cut this dumbass scumbag!

If Travis is telling the truth (maybe/maybe not) I think this is good news for Bills fans as it would mean it is TD who controls this situation. In it he has made the judgment from his reading of the market (and from the Adams and Kelsay examples and other situation he read the market extremely well) he is holding off on moving Travis because he thinks there is a better doable deal out there.

It COULD be a number of things like:

1. He feels by waiting he can back AZ off an alleged request for a draft pick and Henry for Shelton (maybe not/maybe on this one I guess).

2. He sees Shelton as an affordable answer to the LT hole (We can sign Shelton and pay him the $3 million base salary up front as a bonus and prorate it over the remainder of his contract giving us a $1.25 million cap hit at LT msking the $5+ million overpayment for a restructured MW a reasonable cap hit in our OL budget, but see the potential for some other LT to become available as a cap casualty, thus he waits to move (maybe/maybe not is my guess).

3. He thinks that there might be a better offer from another team like TB or Miami for Henry (maybe not/maybe on this one, but this one is possible if team view the primary Henry attraction as his cap hit rather than his personality and they have other fish to fry with their cap room than RB).

At any rate if you believe Henry I think this is good news.

If you do not believe, Henry what I think may be happening here is that Henry is holding out for a new contract with AZ before he makes them comfortable enough to trade for him. AZ would be smarter to make Henry prove himself before opening up the bank vault and if he says he is not going to be happy with AZ until they sign a new deal, I do not make the trade if I am AZ.

My guess is that Henry knows he has no leverage because he signed away a year of his play for upfront chump change from the Bills to deal with his personal stupidity.

He can not come to mini-camp if he wants, it doesn't hurt us because he is likely gone and even if he had to come crawling back to be #2 to WM, it isn't a killer for us since WM is the guy we practice at RB in "voluntary" camp. He can even threaten to sit out if he wants, it will not get him to FA any quicker. Just as it was fellow players who called TH and begged/told him to come to "voluntary" camp last year, TD can sit back and the players will do the work for TD just as Henry and his agent have.

I think thid quote may be a sign of positive development because if YOU believe TH then TD is in the driver's seat. If YOU DO NOT believe TH then the pressure seems to be building on him and he may realize that his choices are to play for AZ on his current contract or pull a Wickey.

I for one think that Henry wants the big bucks and wil cave to get a shot at them. Maybe you're enough of a believer in Henry that you think he answers to higher principle than money (though I doubt it) or maybe you can lay out some case for why you think that Henry (admittedly not the brightest bulb in the pack) is as uncommitted and weird as Wickey. Even his bad quotes are no equivalent to the hiring a rap star as his initial agent, his dreadlocks and unusual personal presentation, or his actually forcing/participating in the NO/Mia trade.

His quotes are not great to hear but I am glad TD is not panicking or getting his panties all up in a wad over this.

That is the most important part about the trade not happening I believe.  Henry has shown he is not an intelligent guy by agreeing to the contract extension a couple of years ago.

Mike,

I think he did it because he was dead broke. I think the Bills helped the kid out.

You must be an !@#$!!! How many adults do you know that have sex with 15 yr olds? What are we supposed to respect that? "Oh, it's OK, he gained over 1,000 yards" Is that your logic?

Nice user name.............didn't Biscuit get prison time for a sex assault? You better get a better grip about who & what you respect

Ya know...I dont blame him one bit for the way he feels.  You guys are jumping down his throat because he got run out of town here and is pissed.  Travis is a VERY good back.  He has his downfalls, but he is still a 1500 yard back capable of a pro-bowl.  He is in the prime of his career fighting for the big paycheck, and he is stuck behind willis.  If you cant see his side of this, your blue and red colored glasses must be a much stronger perscription than mine.

HOWEVER, he is hurting himself (and the bills) by going to the media.  Perhaps this is all a ploy to get his name in the news and get some attention when everyone is focused on Alexander and James.

I too would like to see this resolved.  And it will be.  But we need to be patient and give it time.  If after draft day travis is still on the roster, then we can start to get concerned.  Until then....let TD do his job.

This sums up the way I also feel about the situation nicely. Well Said. And I'm 100% behind McGahee.... The vultures don't even wait for the meat to begin rotting around here do they?

When Travis reaches 1500 yards, hell even 1450 yards let me know. He hasn't done that yet. Also, when he makes the pro bowl on his own merits not when three guys in front of him bow out because they are injured I also will listen.

Until then this is just further proof that Travis is and has been a locker room cancer and a complete and total jerk. I would love to have TD trade him to the Green Bay, just so he can freeze his ass on the bench behind Green.

let him sit... the bills will be minus one roster spot, but they'll get some compensation if he disregards his signed contract. Plus he'll screw himself over in the long run. I say the bills keep him, he'll sit out, and then he'll be basically blackballed.

Travis did not go seeking an underage girl for sex. She lied about her age. I know plenty of women who look older than they really are. Granted, Travis needs to use better judgement, but I give him the benefit of the doubt. Have you seen the guy? Chances are he doesn't have women falling all over him........

I don't see the Arizona Cards jumping for Henry. Rumor is they will move up in the draft and take an elite rookie RB.

282764[/snapback]

Actually the rumor of them getting Bennett from Minny started heavy over the weekend. Looks like they are probably giving up a 2nd to get Bennett who Green really likes. He wants the speed guy who can catch. While Bennett seems to be very injury prone, when healthy he is very good.

This seems to be why Shelton is going for a 2nd, to replace the one they use on Bennett.

The Bills do not want to lose another 1st day pick, even for such an obvious hole, and are hoping to use next year picks to get Shelton is my understanding. Right now the market is dry on Travis, and may stay so until after the draft. The only way he seems to get traded before hand is possibly to San Fran who paid Barlow a bonus, but maybe willing to get Travis as a fairly inexpensive backup if Barlow continues to struggle. Not sure they would give more than a 4th which means the Shelton trade is dependant on either Bennett trade not going through and Cards settling on Travis or the Cards taking picks next year instead.

I'd take Henry over Bennett anyday. Bennett is a weakling. But we ARE talking about the Cardinals here.

Trade him to Toronto for their field goal kicker and a case of Golden, eh?

TD would make sportcenter headlines and say something like, "We thought the world of Travis, but we dont think his representation explained our offer in simple enough words."

YOU OL FOX YOU!
