SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 just field the punt and be done with it less risk

I think it is okay for Defense players to return punts and Offense players to return kickoffs since each will get a rest after play. Both result in the offense playing the next snap, so by that logic you'd only want defenders doing it, or depth guys like it usually is.
Stank_Nasty Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 I personally think this is a routinely overrated concern. sit down and think about it..... do you actually see a bunch of major injuries to returners? also plenty of high profile players routinely have returned punts. can anyone name one recently that got hurt and ruined their year?

Gugny Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 We had Leo returning punts. I'm fine with Hyde returning if he's "that much better," than Ray Ray and/or Taiwan. If the difference isn't significant, however, I'd rather not risk the injury (on which I agree with @Stank_Nasty that it's not a huge risk).
Freddie's Dead Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 No, but we have 2 PR's in Charlie Murphy and Ray^^2 who have played themselves out the position. Maybe Taiwan Jones again? 5 hours ago, YoloinOhio said: Whatever happened to Walt? Forgot about that guy. He went back to being a bartender.

Ol Dirty B Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 If it makes the special teams not look as inept as they did against LA I'm for it. The muffs, not calling fair catches at the correct times, watching the ball bounce in to the endzone instead of downing it. They've been pretty bad outside of Hauschka.
Big C Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 I would rather him not be exposed to a big hit, but if he is the only competent guy we've got, we should put him out there for now.

The difference is on offense a player not being on next snap is not as critical (or player is on field but is emergency outlet/decoy) but if a starting DB is out it usually makes a big difference.
Augie Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 At least he can catch! Fair catch is fine, but solid hands. Yes, I’m touchy right now.
