YoloinOhio Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 There was some discomfort in the GDT over Hyde returning punts in Minnesota. He has experience doing it, and we saw ray ray make a rookie mistake on his chance. Kerley was the PR before he got cut. Thoughts?
Soda Popinski Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 No I think RayRay should be returning punts. But he can't let one roll for 40 yards like he did last week. 1
nucci Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 Hyde has the best hands and is the safest choice 1
YoloinOhio Posted September 26, 2018 Author Posted September 26, 2018 I think field position is monumental with our offense. So I’m on the fence. I know Hyde had a lot of success returning punts in GB and we are fairly deep at safety but the drop off from him to Bush isn’t good.
PeterDude Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 Nope, should not be risking injury. They need to find someone else.
MJS Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 In my opinion you should never have a starter returning kicks or punts. It's a risky endeavor. 3

whatdrought Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 I don't know that I recall seeing many punt returners getting hurt- maybe I am wrong. That being said, It's impossible to plan against injury- best man does the job.
Bing Bong Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 I liked that Powell dude a lot actually. Rarely made mistakes. Wasn't going to break out for a TD return, but got positive yardage and didn't do anything stupid. Was refreshing from Leodis days. Just want a dude like that.

Forgot about that guy.

AB did it last year (the kick in the punter's face lol), if the talent is that special then go for it. I don't think the risk reward is there with Hyde compared to AB or Desean Jackson lol. I don't know, it's a couple plays a game. Mostly fair catches. And after he does return a kick, he has time to rest while the offense is on the field. If he's the best they have, it should be considered.
Saxum Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 Winfield used to return punts and play starting CB. I think it is okay for Defense players to return punts and Offense players to return kickoffs since each will get a rest after play.
klos63 Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 1 minute ago, PetermanThrew5Picks said: and.. would he be that good to warrant it anyway? career average of about 10 yards per return with 3 TD's.
YoloinOhio Posted September 26, 2018 Author Posted September 26, 2018 Last time we played GB we returned a punt for a TD (Marcus Thigpen). Maybe Micah will do it vs his old team?
BillsFan130 Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 It’s definitely a tough call. Hyde seems very reliable returning punts but he’s such a valuable player of course. But Murphy/Ray Ray have looked very sketchy so far. So its a very tough call. I would give the slight edge to Hyde though. Fair catch a lot of them and only return them when there is lots of room
