23. Cleveland Browns

Record: 1-1-1
Week 3 ranking: 28

The Browns are blitzing 41 percent of the time this season, the highest rate in the NFL. However they are allowing the seventh-highest completion percentage with that blitz (67 percent), compared with the second-lowest completion percentage (58 percent) when they don't blitz. -- Clawson

 

30. Buffalo Bills

Record: 1-2
Week 3 ranking: 32

The Bills' offense has gone three-and-out on 54 percent of drives this season, on pace to be the highest rate for any team in the past 15 seasons. Part of the reason is that Bills quarterbacks are completing an NFL-low 50 percent of their passes. -- Koontz

Yeah, that's pretty ridiculous. Beating the Vikes on the road is way more impressive than the Jets at home.

 

Plus, Cleveland is just a better all around team. It should have been expected that they beat the Jets. They very well could be 3-0 right now.

It takes them awhile to come off of their preconceived notions about what they think a team is before they even play any games.  The Pats* should be way lower on this list based on what we have seen so far but they are keeping them up there based on past performance.  It will level out eventually.  Honestly, I hope they keep us low for awhile even if we do get a few wins. The underdog role seems to motivate this team.

Our 3 and out percentage against the Vikings was high because we went into a shell in the 2nd half. What a weird stat to bring up after that game.

ESPN power rankings always demonstrate a certain amount of inertia when it comes to certain teams.  Buffalo is one of those teams.  They are one of the slowest to move the Bills up after the Bills experience some success.  New England is always going to be moved down very slowly when they have losses.  To a certain extent, that can be justified by Bill Belichick's long record of success, which includes years when the Patriots start out struggleing and end up winning the Super Bowl.  If Buffalo beats Green Bay, I could see them moving up in the 26-27 range.  I've seen other power rankings today where the Bills are as high as 26.
