He did look great - but the time he had on some plays was such a luxury.

Obviously, it’s way to early for a verdict.  I still think we’re going to be happy we got Allen.

And I know what you’re saying about a QB setting the tone early, but it ignores the sieve that is pretending to be our o line.  Rosen wouldn’t have made it through our game yesterday.

Through the first 3 weeks of the season, I believe Arizona’s offensive line was graded dead last by PFF. They did look better yesterday, but I have to wonder how much of that had to do with Rosen.

It looked to me like he was identifying prsssure and checking in to the right coverages at the line. He was stepping up into the pocket instead of rolling into pressure. He played well in the pocket all game. Wasn’t getting happy feet, and he hung tough in the face of prsssure numerous times to make nice throws. He was going through his reads quickly and finding the open man. He looked like he knew where to go with the ball to exploit the defensive coverage on a given play.

He had a very good command of that offense, especially for a rookie in his first start.

I said before the game that it’ll be interesting to see how Rosen does because he is the QB with the most similar circumstances to Allen in Buffalo. Both he and Allen probably have the worst teams around them out of all the young NFL QBs.

Rosen doesn’t have a strong receiving corps (outside of Fitzgerald, who had 3 drops yesterday). He doesn’t have a strong running game. He doesn’t have a strong offensive line. Arizona is one of the bottom tier teams in the NFL, and I thought Rosen impressed under less than ideal circumstances.

But I think everyone knew that Rosen would be better than Allen out of the gate. Allen is much more of a raw project. I’m hoping that in the coming years Allen makes the Bills look smart for passing on Rosen.

They did more max protect with fewer receivers running routes in some instances.

He was the "Josh" most of us (myself included) preferred.

Me too, although now i wldnt have it any other way. Much prefer Allen's puppy face rather than having to look at that smug grin. I didnt realize it, but that woukd have driven me nuts. Good or bad, its the same... and its irritating imo

I agree, JA does have a face that’s easy to root for

Color me unimpressed with Rosen’s first start. Lots of throws that will be picked in the future. Still comes across as cocky college kid that will be put in his place like Manziel. The NFL is filled with grown men, not kids he can embarrass. That said, all rookie QB’s except Baker Mayfield leave a lot to be desired at this point.

Seems like the media is reaching to try and annoint Allen, Rosen, and Darnold.

Josh Rosen: The QB with the big arm, bigger opinions and smart mouth

Josh Rosen was an outspoken star well before he started his first game for the Cardinals. A look back at some of the headlines he's made along the way.

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Five months ago, when the thought of Josh Rosen standing behind a podium as the Arizona Cardinals' starting quarterback was first imagined, the possibilities of what could come out of his mouth were endless.

He developed, doubled down and reaffirmed his reputation as the quarterback with the big arm, bigger opinions and smart mouth through years of being open and honest about how he felt on a variety of topics, from Donald Trump to the NCAA and everything in between.

But since Rosen was drafted 10th overall -- nine places lower than he thought he should've been picked -- his loquaciousness has calmed. He made his now-famous remarks on draft night about there being "nine mistakes" ahead of him, which he revised the next day to just "three big mistakes," referring to the three quarterbacks.

Since then, however, Rosen, publicly, has been a quiet shell of his college self.

On Wednesday, toward the end of the first news conference as the Cardinals' starter, Rosen was asked why he has been so quiet.

"I'm just busy," he said.

Basically, Josh Rosen is the QB we hope Josh Allen's can laern to become.  Which is pretty stupid to say, when we could just drafted him from the beginning, but it's true.   And we will have to wait three years before he either makes it (highly unlikely, sorry that's just the odds) or doesn't.

I loved Rosen, still do, I fully expect him to be a probowler by year 3 and have the Cardinals as perennial super bowl contenders.  He is the best nfl qb prospect I saw in college since Luck, maybe even better.

Allen was a essentially a 3rd round QB prospect who became a top 3 qb prospect because he could throw it 20 yards farther than everyone else.  He is basically EJ Manual or Losman all over again. He struggles with basic reads. He has terrible pocket presence.  He is inaccurate.   He has shown flashes of greatness tho I will say, I just think it's luck mostly.   I unfortunately don't have much hope but am still hoping.

Zona running game showing signs of life vs. Seahawks, possibly due to CPR provided by Rosen.  Close to 100 yds rushing I think, altogether.  Pretty classic - deep incompletion by Rosen (good throw, dropped) - 1st down by penalty - then run.

26CB is correct, they did max protect for Rosen at times, but (unlike some team dear to my heart *cough* Bills *cough*) they were salty and effective at it.   Rosen also maneuvered his way out of trouble and ran effectively a couple of times.  Methinks his immobility may have been overstated.  Has Larry Fitz always been used over the middle like that and asked to take those bone-crunching hits?  OMG they're gonna get that guy killed.

Favorite call: Near the end of the first half.  "False start ..... everybody but the center..."  ??

Does anyone else think Russ Wilson just has the neatest slide in the NFL?  It's just a pleasure to watch him.

Anyway, Zona-Seahawks was a fun game to watch.  I used it as a snack to reward myself for grinding my way through a Bills possession on all-22.

I don't like saying that, even though it's true.
