cage Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 (edited) With a bit more than 2m to go before the half Allen completed a pass along the sideline to Andre Holmes. Holmes ran another 10 yds before getting pushed out of bounds. Why didn't that stop the game clock? The clock continued to run and the Bills ran it down to the 2 minute warning before continuing. Is there some rule change that I've lost track of. The clock should have stopped when Holmes went out of bounds, shouldn't it? Edited September 24, 2018 by cage
NewEra Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 I don’t think the clock stops on all OOB plays at that point in the game. Just under 2 mins 1
Dablitzkrieg Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 I don't believe the clock stops while going out of bounds, until less than 2 minutes in a half or you are Sammy Watkins on MNF. I could be wrong 1
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 (edited) If a ball carrier goes out of bounds with the ball, the game clock temporarily stops. For most of the game, the game clock restarts when the ref places the ball on the ground where the next play will begin. (Option 2) Exceptions to this are: during the last two minutes of the first half and the last five minutes of the second half. During these times, the game clock is not restarted until the next play begins. (Option 3) In case you were wondering, a regular season overtime period is treated like the second half of a game, while playoff overtime periods are treated as though a new game is beginning and the first overtime period is the first quarter. nkreed Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 I wonder when they changed it again. I remember a while ago the rule change to increase game speed, but always thought it was 5 mins to go in each half.
