/dev/null Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 So Mayfield is the baker. Which begs the question: out of Darnold, Allen, Rosen, and Jackson who are the butcher and the candlestick maker?

26CornerBlitz Posted September 25, 2018 Author Posted September 25, 2018 Baker Mayfield Makes Browns' Choice at Quarterback Easy BEREA, Ohio -- Browns coach Hue Jackson caught a couple news cycles' worth of flak for saying he wanted to watch the tape before naming a starting quarterback in light of Tyrod Taylor's concussion and No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield's invigorating debut last week. So you can only imagine the response had Jackson strolled to the podium here Monday and said anything other than this is now Mayfield's team, for Sunday's visit to Oakland and beyond. "Did I feel like I had a choice?" Jackson said, repeating my question near the end of what had to be his most popular media session in two-plus seasons on the job. "I do not think that matters to me. I think today I am giving you guys the choice that was made, whether it was going to be a riot here, as people said, or whatever. It is what it is. This guy is the quarterback, and on we go."

And he has a great work ethic and no drug problem, so not similar to Manziel much at all. Edited September 27, 2018 by cle23 1
BarleyNY Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 (edited) Great breakdown of huge difference in play between Mayfield and Taylor discussed here. Edited September 27, 2018 by BarleyNY

Mayfield is listed at 6'1" 215 lb Cousins is 6'3" 202 lb Dalton 6'2" 220 lb Brees 6'0" 209 lb Rodgers 6'2" 225 lb Carr 6'3" 215 lb Keenum 6'1" 215 lb Ryan 6'4" 217 lb Smith 6'4" 213 lb Wilson 5'11" 215 lb Taylor 6'1" 210 lb Tannehill 6'4" 207 lb Fitz 6'2" 223 lb He fits right in size wise. He's not the smallest and he's not the biggest, he'll be fine.

BarleyNY Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 To be precise Mayfield measured 6’ 0-5/8” at the combine. Drew Brees measured 6’0-3/10” tall. There’s an interesting video from Browns training camp that show Mayfield practicing throwing from his toes. It was noted that this is exactly what Brees does.
TheFunPolice Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 Some day Tyrod will get a REAL SHOT on a team with actual weapons on offense, a good OC, and a game plan designed around his strengths. THEN we will see! 1

It’s called negotiating. Dorsey is trying to get as much as possible for him by creating an impression of value. They won’t get back what they gave up tho.

Tyrod Taylor: QB mentor extraordinaire. Do not undervalue the QB mentor. The mere threat of Taylor leaving might be enough to send Baker Mayfield into uncontrollable fits of despair. If anyone wants to make a deal for Taylor, they will have to pay the Mayfield comfort price. 1

I'm thinking it's a pretty safe bet that Tyrod stays the season in Cleveland. Who would want him? He's horrible! Cleveland is stuck with him, better them than us.
