Lurker Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) Of all the things that stood out today, the consistent pressure from the D-line was the biggest surprise. Pressure up the middle that kept Cousins from stepping up, allowing the ends to wreak havoc. And it kept up thoughout the game, even when the defense may have been expected to be a bit tired in the second half. Not sure I've seen that effective DL-play in the McD era. Kudos to everyone involved... Edited September 23, 2018 by Lurker 2
Nostradumbass Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 I agree, shocked by how dominant they looked today
Haslett_Stomp Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Do we know who was calling the defensive plays today?
DuckyBoys Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Maybe Trent Murphy and Star are decent pickups Hughes was on a rampage 2

The push from the DTs was excellent, which helped give Jerry the angle he needed. That had beem MIA for most of the past year, which hurt Hughes pass rush stats. It was like a fine-tuned machine today... 3
Big Turk Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Hughes was a monster out there...he was unblockable 5

Rocky Landing Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Hughs, Milano, Lorax, T. Murphy, ON FIRE! Nate Orchard contributed, as well. And, I don't care about his RTP penalty. Cousins couldn't breath out there. 1
Kmart128 Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Started last week in 2nd half. You can see the pass rush just intensify. 1
The Now Moment Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) Sometimes it takes a bit for a defense to click. A lot of new faces in the front seven and they clicked really well today. Maybe Star won't get all the tackles but helping other players get advantages is his specialty. Very happy to see how MIlano has played so far this season. Strong performance today. BobChalmers Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 It was there last week too - couldn't understand people griping about Trent Murphy after last week (yet another bad McBeane FA, blah blah blah) - Murphy was terrific last week too.

Prickly Pete Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 (edited) They were rested, and playing with a lead all game long. Plus they believe in this QB. That's half the battle. Edited September 23, 2018 by OJ Tom 4 1
BobChalmers Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 That's 9 points allowed in the last 6 quarters. Let's keep it up at Green Bay!! Rodgers looks totally human this year. 1

And a groin injury slows you down. People are pathetic when looking for negative stuff Edit: and thread title is a great question. The pass rush in the 2nd half of last game and this game, compared to the other 6 quarters... I mean it's like two different teams. Yes schemes and playcalling matter, but to this extent?
