Sweet Sally Sunshine, the daughter of NYCBBB co-founder Matt Kabel, passed away yesterday after an aggressive infection overwhelmed her compromised immune system and weakened body.  She had celebrated her 6th birthday just last week.

During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, please keep Sally, the entire Kabel family, and all those who have struggled, are struggling, or will struggle with this disease in your hearts.

More must be done to raise funds for Pediatric Cancer research and to develop treatments more appropriate for children - current "adult" treatments take a terrible toll on these kids.

I have a 6 year old little girl. I can not imagine the devastation her family must be feeling, God bless them all. Rest well precious little one.

My heart truly breaks to hear this news.  I also have a young daughter and I honestly cannot fathom the pain of losing such a young precious little child.  I will ask for strength for the family and do believe that Heaven surely has its angel...

That is truly the worst.  I have a 6 year old and can only imagine how terrible this would be.  God Bless, and I'll be praying for her and her family.

As the OP mentions, Childhood Cancer needs additional research.   Here is one group that does great research in that field:

https://www.stbaldricks.org/

You can donate here,   https://www.stbaldricks.org/donate   and to the left, click in memorial and put "Sweet Sally" in first name, and "Sunshine" in the last.

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  Perhaps TBD can show some love to a Pediatric Cancer charity in the same way we did to Dalton's Charity and light up donations in memory of Sally.

(FY: I have no affiliation with Sally or St. Baldricks).

Thanks for that.  I've done St. Baldrick's 3 times in Sally's honor.

RIP Sweet Sally!?

I hate cancer, but when it takes the life of an innocent child that never had a chance to grow and experience all the goodness that life has to offer, it really sucks. Condolences to the family

God Bless her and prayers to her family.  I can hardly even read these articles any more.......just awful and sticks with you forever.  Poor little girl.  I pray there is a heaven so that she can play and be happy and be loved.
