KOKO NFL Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 (edited) Is Shaq Lawson part of the problem or a piece of the (future) puzzle? Is he brittle, brutal, or capable? Recent medical reports have noted him as 'day to day' . However, this will be the second week in a row he's not participating in practice and will likely miss the Vikes game. Is there any intel on this guy and any indication of how the FO feels about him and his current situation? Edited September 20, 2018 by KOKO NFL typo
CommonCents Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Shaq is softer than the most expensive toilet paper. 2
vincec Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 He’s just another guy. Not a championship calibur DE for sure but might be an ok backup at the right price.
oldmanfan Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Injury history is s concern now. But he sets the edge well against the run, and I can see him helping by moving inside as an interior rusher on passing downs 1
Rocky Landing Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Watch what Hughs did in the second half vs. the Chargers. He's not an elite pass rusher, but he is legit. Shaq does not get anywhere near the pressure Hughs gets. Not even close. He is a weak point in the defense, just like whomever plays opposite Tre White will likely be a weak point that will be exploited by the Vikes. That makes Shaq Lawson part of the problem. 1
Augie Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 He’s a piece of the puzzle, until we can find a better piece. We need a lot of new pieces. 3
YoloinOhio Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 He will play out his rookie deal and the Bills will say peace out. They lack the depth at the position to trade him and he’s cheap depth so no reason to cut him unless they land someone better. 5
billsfan89 Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 He can clearly play in the NFL but beyond being a good run defender along the edge (Which has limited value) he hasn't show much and he has durability issues. Yet he is still young and not far removed from being a high draft pick. This season needs to play out before we know exactly just what kind of future this kid has. He doesn't need to be a pro-bowl player to have a long term future as a significant piece of the puzzle but he has to flash his ability more and stay healthy. 1 minute ago, YoloinOhio said: He will play out his rookie deal and the Bills will say peace out. Also his 2019 salary is guaranteed he will definitely get rotational snaps in 2019 but I think he still has time to pan out he just needs to stay healthy. Then again he could just be a JAG even if healthy. Still I think you have to see where he is at after this season.
skibum Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 While he's not proving to be worthy of his high draft position, I think he's a certainly good enough player to keep in the rotation. They can't all be pro-bowlers. And who knows, he has the natural talent to become a really good player if it clicks for him. 1
K-9 Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 This being his third year, like most draft picks, if he hasn’t shown it yet, he’s probably never going to at this point. He strikes me as a placeholder, nothing more. McDermott needs pressure from four rushers and Lawson can’t bring that element.

Mat68 Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 He is here because no one has offered much for him imo.

Helpmenow Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 It’s a revolving door on the d line now and the For the past years.
artmalibu Posted September 20, 2018 Posted September 20, 2018 Not living up to his draft status, but surly good enough to be in rotation. From what I saw before he went out he was playing he a$$ off. 1
