he wasn’t under contract iirc

They all basically "retired". Quitting just sounds better

Well, Vontae's exact quote was: "I'm so done with this team!" . . . he reads TBD a lot.

At the time he was on a team being outscored 54-6.

Probably decided yeah I didnt come back for this.

Wow.

It is a good thing that McBeane brought in their own guys and got rid of guys like (Super Bowl Champion) Darby.

Then McD will definitely sign him to a big extension.

He's probably came back too soon last year, tried to rush it, and has done some permanent damage to the knee, sapping his ability to hang with WRs.

He could probably convert to safety at this point though and be very effective if he wanted to be.

well if he just retired....

metrics last year showed our defense was significantly better with gaines on the field if I remember correctly.

They also showed that he gets injured every single season.  Including this one already.

Good for Vontae, and don't the door hit you on the way out.  We held the Chargers to 3 points in the 2nd half (shoulda been a shutout if the refs called the touchback) when Davis was quitting in the locker room.  Clearly he wasn't part of the solution.  See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya.

Wow this, this shines a bad light on McBeane if they thought signing this guy was a "culture" move that would further the "process".

I've never heard of this, Bills find a way to be more Billsy!

Yes. And I would never criticize a player for doing what is best for himself.

Wrong.

The dude is a PROFESSIONAL athlete. You don't quit mid-game, mid-season. Not if you're a professional.

A player quitting his team at half time for the first time in NFL history must be part of the process.

So Boldin, Richie, Robinson, Davis

all quit

Richie gets a little pass because he is a little loopy.

A little.....?

I have been very much in the minority my I’m blaming anything for off-season moves but if Vontaze knee was this bad I think being does deserve some blame

Orton said “hey be right back” and then left the building without telling anyone and never came back. Whatever he did, it was noteworthy.

Professional anything. Think of the real world equivalent:

Just up and quit in the middle of a workday, in the middle of a meeting with clients, and go home. That employer is never going to be giving you a positive reference in the future.

You wait until the meeting’s (game) is over at the earliest.
