I think the defense came alive in the 2nd half...They gave 3 points and it was not as if Rivers was NOT trying!

Exactly. Had they shown up in the first half, this would have been a different game.

Josh himself stated in the preseason that he had difficulty with the speed of NFL.  Once he can slow down his game, he will be able to beat that blitz.  There was good promise from him in his first start.

...hell, he's hardly alone....Steve Young ( yup, THAT guy) said, "more collegians fail versus succeed at the NFL level due to the speed and complexity of the game".....

...but if you have a learning offense with a rook as in Josh, no way you can afford that first half spot.....just sayin'..............

Next week will be very interesting . . . .

It is going to be a very tough game against a good team on the road.

Expansion team level WRs on the team.

Those would be an improvement:

I'd take Corey Bradford and Jabar Gaffney of the 2002 texans over this mess.

Stats wise you can't

However lets see if he learns to throw a couple balls away instead of a sack. Lets see if he takes a sack instead of that pick while ingram was all over him.

There are ways to see improvement other than the actual performance and I'm excited to see it

Allen played like a rookie, lots to work on but you see the pockets of potential that he has and a lot of his mistakes seem to stem from inexperience more so than tragic flaws in his game.

Decision making will only improve as he plays more, he will throw a lot of picks and take a lot of sacks (both a product of his inexperience and his O-line) but he will also improve as the season goes as experience will be his best teacher.

I still wish the team had a decent vet QB to throw out there instead of him (experience is a great teacher but I worry his footwork will be negatively impacted by playing behind such a bad O-line and I think rookies are best suited to sit a year at least) but throwing Allen to get experience is not a bad option at this point.

200+ passing yards in his first start.

Tuhrod only threw for more than 245 only three times last year, never topping 300.  Josh Allen will have a 300 yard game before the year is out.

BTW, who goes as the starting QB for the Bills for 3 years and allows his name to be mispronounced the whole time?

Yes, well that's an improvement over last week where they NEVER showed up.

Tyrod also won a lot games and added rushing yards and didn't make a lot of turnovers. You can lawyer it in either direction and fit the stats to your arguments. Tyrod is gone for better or worse, Allen is and should be the future.

So D showed up in 2nd half... KB needs to be benched, catch at end looked like didnt even want because of contact... just stuck to his stickum hands. Bills middle of field D needs work and non of the wide recievers want to go over middle.

I'm lawyering in Allen's direction.

Well... Better than last week. I can see Allen just needs some more experience seeing where pressures coming especially. I'm encouraged by what I saw I think he's going to get a lot better as he gains more experience analyzing defenses pre snap.

I think McDermott took over the play calling in that 2nd half so it'll be interesting to see if there's serious heat on Frazier. The defense was better in the 2nd half.

Tremaine Edmunds was being picked on. He'll get better as he builds up his experience. Rivers really abused the rookie. As he sees more and more that misdirection stuff like that, he won't fall for it at some point and that'll be nice when the lights finally turn on there.

Special teams whewwww that punt that turned into a touchback was ugly... Idk why they didn't dead that ball asap it was inside the 5... Too greedy cost a nice field position switch.

The o line looked better... Still nothing stellar but better than last week. I think Allen also needs more experience setting up his protection hopefully the line gets better as they play more games together. That's really important in the trenches that chemistry and that's going to take time and live games.

I wasn't expecting a win here and I wasn't even really expecting this game to be close. I just wanted to see some improvement and I did to an extent. McDermott still had a long ways to go.

I kinda feel the same way.  Certainly happy by what I see in Allen.  But, goodness, this team has A LOT to work on...in EVERY facets of the game.  Long season ahead

indeed!

I know, I am just playing devils advocate with Tyrod (pointing out that you can skew and frame things in whichever way you want to.) I thought the team should have kept him for one more year but the return on him was pretty good so I understood the move. I was more so mad they traded AJ and fell for NP again. But I thought Tyrod was the perfect competent QB to have for one more year (he is gone at this point no use in dragging it up what's done is done

I just think that Allen shouldn't be compared to Tyrod because they are completely different QB's and Tyrod's situation in Buffalo was different than Allen's now. The stats don't tell the whole story on either player and I think the comparisons should stop.

I do not understand what you are saying...

If we took Mahomes at 15 two years ago, we aren’t trading any other pick last year to move up. This would have allowed more picks to bolster the O line and Receivers.

Hind sight , yes but still makes sense to me.
