..that is an ETERNITY around these parts......his extensive body of work is more than enough to come to a conclusion, right?.............

Look, I said if Allen doesn’t work out.  If he has a good year and shows some talent, we are set

Anyone care to look at Wentz's statistics from his rookie year?   Would those have convinced anyone he was a franchise guy?  What about Goff's rookie campaign?   He looked like a gigantic bust.

Year 1 for a rookie QB is essentially a learning on the job year.  You might know more in year 2, usually a good developing franchise QB will take a solid step forward year 2.   But you won't know anything from this season.

The problem is the draft doesn't just happen at the end. You have to devote resources to scouting player throughout the year.

This doesn't make any sense.

The Bills are married to Allen at this point. Use picks upgrading the support he has around him, and if he flames out we'll be looking for a new front office, new head coach and new QB in 2020.

Or maybe we should draft Oline to protect him and WR to through to.

Nothing matters but the QB!  NOTHING!!!!

But if he struggles this year and they have a chance to land the top QB in the draft, I’d say....do it.  2 good young QB’s on any team is a dream.

Lets just look at a recent example of this...Goff and the Rams.

After his first year, many thought little of him and that he was a bust.  Lots of meh and very few signs of hope.

Year 2:  Rams heavily address the offensive deficiencies on the OL and WR.  What happened next?  A second season that had him on the MVP voting list.

Question:  What are our MASSIVE deficiencies right now?  OL and WR.

Next year, its possible Bills could turn a real corner by adding some actual talent on the OL and WR spots.  We got a lot of young and veteran talent on the defensive side of the ball.  Especially with guys like Edmunds and Phillips entering their 2nd years, Tre his 3rd...we should have a solid or better defense.  Retool the OL an WR's next year in both FA and the draft first and foremost, we have invested a TON into Allen, he deserves more than 1 season on the worst offensive roster in the NFL before we make any conclusions about him.

If we are drafting top 10 and there is a QB with upside you take the QB.

Bottom line is if we are drafting early its because QB play was not as good as we would of hoped and no team in this league can afford to put there eggs into a could be.. ESPECIALLY THE BILLS

I would be very upset if we passed on a having 2 capable QB's with upside. If both pan out the return on a traded QB is a boon for any franchise. If only 1 pans outs well then you covered the most important position.

Now if Allen is all that and a bag of chips by the years end we will see a huge improvement and won't be drafting top 10 and we can then look at other key positions like 4 out of 5 OL positions, a real WR and a dominating pass rusher

That's the last thing they should do and You should prepare yourself to be very upset.

Really 20 years +++ of inept QB play and you're willing to stick with a guy who may or may not be great. If we are drafting top 10 then as much of the blame goes to the QB. That's is the way it is.

If we are drafting top 10 then it has a lot to do with QB play...  I am unwilling to just wait to see if Allen really develops if he doesn't keep us out of the top 10 this year.  I've watched this team draft every other position and suffer year after year with half ass QB play. I would keep swinging for QB's till at least one on the roster proves to be the one.... Then I would trade one for buku assets, or if one fails be relieved we have a good QB

As for being disappointed. I already am in a very major way. This is a passing league and until you have a QB you always have nothing or you wallow in mediocrity and never get one.

to each their own I guess but unless Allen can show huge signs of progress and continue to show durability I am not hitching all my wagons to the Allen train until he proves with little doubt he's the guy

Maybe you aren't, but the decision makers by the names of Beane and McDermott will be.

The good QBs came out last year. Maybe one will be worth a top 10 pick if some of the underclassmen declare, but it seems unlikely.

You’re conveniently leaving 1 piece out of thread equation.  What helped Goff the most was the guy calling the plays.  The Rams most important hire was Sean McVay.  Were not going to get a coaching change in Buffalo and probably not even an OC change anything soon.
