im surprised anyone on the starting OL earned their job. Aside from Groy and Dawkins, everyone else must go. ESPECIALLY DucASSe

Most professionals appear to believe opposite but they did so last year as well.

He wasted snaps day after day on AJM, who isn’t even on the team anymore and Nate P. who is totally inept. They haven’t prioritized Allen’s development. It is a shame, the only solution they attempted on the offensive line was Bodine. Another mistake which could have been eliminated by Beane and his scouts simply looking at his former teams message boards. When fans are desperate to get a guy out of town does he ever go onto have success at his next stop?

Posters on message boards rarely show common sense.  Fans are desperate to get rid of Vladimir Ducasse and professionals rate him the best guard we have.

It’s a difficult situation because it’s more than a little awkward to say “Yeah, we know we have to go to Allen, but we’re not doing it until we think he can survive physically and mentally, so we’re just going to throw Peterman out here for a few more games. Let him take the beating while we move up in the next draft.”  But that may just be what’s going to happen. Now, how do you explain that....without explaining that?

Right, the coach speak is hard on that. You can blow off the media but how do you explain that to the team? You cant say that without killing the Olines confidence. He's gotta roll with nate for a few more weeks depending on how ready Allen looks in practice

I dont understand why Mcdermott wouldn't do with Allen what he did with Edmunds. Similar age both freaky athletes both a little raw.  Edmunds from first day at mini camp was groomed by McDermott to be the guy, how to lead.  While at the same time Allen was regulate to third and getting the least amount of first team reps.  Now 4 months later after 2 quarters of the first game Allen who was prepared to play the least by the coaching staff is the obvious player that needs to play.  Same blunder Obrien made, Lovie Smith and Jon Fox got fired for it.  It's a pretty big indictment of his evaluation and expectation of the position.

What QB went through that Obrien decision you mentioned?

Agree on tc and ps. All those wasted reps on AJ. You can defend the NP reps..kind of....  still tho Smh.

We kinda look like clowns for the way we handled FA and the draft as far as the OLine and WRs go.

Last year Obrien did the identical move with Deshaun Watson.  Kept saying how he wasnt ready than after a first half similar to Baltimore Watson was brought in and they never looked back.  Really only difference for Allen's performance was that Benjamin dropped the Td that Hopkins caught for Watson.

At this point you have to wonder does Peterman know how to throw a man open, does he process things slowly & because of that is that why he’s not an NFL caliber QB? Either way his lack of velocity, questionable durability, nerves, and unathleticism attribute to what we’ve seen so far on Sunday’s. I’m not sure how someone with so few ideal skills can get many more starts.

That's why Peterman's collasall struggles are odd since throwing the man open was supposed to be one of his few strengths? Allen starting this soon behind a terrible OL will have one of 2 outcomes.

1 David Carr- he gets the snot knocked out of him and never establishes confidence.

2 Troy Aikman- he gets beat up his rookie year and goes on to have an amazing career.

I hope you are right.

Peterman's shot was his last.  That's why they started him.  They KNOW Allen is the #1.  They were evaluating Peterman to see if he has any value at all.  It's only a matter of time before he's replaced.

He let him get shot by the firing squad. He’s the sacrificial lamb until we can block a little, maybe get open once in a while, and hopefully learn to catch. It is NOT about the next game, or even this year.   #SaveAllen

I just don't understand why they traded McCarron when the QB's consist of a rookie and and 2nd year QB with 2 starts that resulted in 5 pics in the first half and zero complete games behind a reshuffled, vastly downgraded O-line.  They could afford his cap - they signed him.  He would be no worse than Peterman and another player to take snaps to provide time for Allen's development.

It’s wasn’t about the cap space more of a roaster spot ,

hes still cashing checks singed by Pegula

The NFL is a tough place. All Peterman was doing was trying to win. It didn't work out for him and that is to bad. It would of been nice if he could have gotten some success but clearly that isn't happening.

Look at the bright side Nate Peterman in a way will always be legend, unless somebody else decides to make a worse debut into the NFL.

I legitimately feel bad for Nate but it's Allen time and all I can do is hope for the best with the next experiment at QB.

You're right about that.  Nate's name will be referenced around here long after most of the other names of his teammates are forgotten.

I can't figure out why the kid looks functional-to-decent in the preseason and then looks like a guy who won a "QB FOR THE DAY" fan contest in the regular season.

I get it -- it's the preseason, blah, blah, blah... but still, he was able to execute the basic fundamentals of throwing and completing a pass to a receiver.

So did EJ and JP. How is this something people can't figure out?

Just saying I get it, preseason blah blah blah does nothing to dismiss the point of how the preseason is a useless barometer. You're showing you don't get it.

Because he "earned it"  My guess is McBeane already had Josh's backup on his radar and this game 1 audition was Peterman's last chance to prove he could play under "live" fire.  They intended for Allen to start very early in the season when they traded McCarron.  Watch them sign Paxton Lynch.

McBeane didn't give anyone a real shot. The coaching staff doesn't actually know what they're doing. They're reacting and panicking, going day by day. McDermott says he's starting Allen because it's "what's best for the franchise" it's obvious he doesn't actually know what that is! Just a few days ago Peterman was what was best for the franchise as the starter...A week ago, McCarron being traded was what was best for the franchise. Last year benching Tyrod was what was best for the franchise.

When it comes to QB's, he's just guessing.

I think there is a big middle ground in terms of career that exists between David Carr, and Troy Aikman. It is hardly a one or the other outcome.

Strengths

Smooth, quick set-up in pocket. Grips the ball with big, 10-inch hands. Poised in pocket and takes the hit to deliver a completion. Will set-up, slide and then re-set before making his throw. Can cut it loose from off-balance angles from bootleg or play-action if he sees a winning option break open early. Full field reader. Works all the way through his progressions. Shoots glances at safeties to keep them in check. Strong natural accuracy. Able to throw receivers open and lead them away from danger. Can pinpoint passes to moving targets in his intermediate work. Has enough arm to work field side, intermediate throws. Great vision. Sees passing windows before they develop. Throws with outstanding timing and anticipation. Can put the ball on receivers' hands as soon as they come out of a break if coverage dictates it. Utilizes accuracy and anticipation to challenge windows on all three levels. Won at Clemson hanging five touchdown passes on their talented stop unit. Good escapability and can extend drives with his legs. Excellent deep ball accuracy completing 46.2 percent of his deep throws.

Weaknesses

Inconsistent delivery base causes some throws to sail. Has instances where he short strides and is forced to muscle it to his target. Will float some throws on seams and dig routes. Will have to be mindful to drive the ball on pro level to avoid the ballhawks who are lurking at safety. Has to prove he has enough arm to challenge the same tight windows he did in college. Ball handling a little sluggish in wide receiver screens, hitches and most RPOs (run, pass option). Wants to play hero-ball at times. Needs to learn when to air-mail throw and move to next play rather than trying to get too cute with sideline throws. Can improve overall touch.

Draft Projection

Round 3-4

Sources Tell Us

"I like him. He made me a believer when I watched him against Clemson. I do want to see him throw live and get a feel for how the ball comes out. I never saw him in person and you can't get a feel for that stuff on tape." - NFC Director of Personnel

Bottom Line

Peterman's experience in a pro-style passing attack gives him a head start headed into the league. His physical attributes are just average, but his accuracy, composure and anticipation are what sets him apart from some of the more physically gifted quarterbacks in this year's draft. Peterman's tape is sure to catch the eye of at least a few teams in need of a quarterback and he should come off the board by day two with a chance to become a solid starting quarterback in the future.

To keep things in perspective, Petermans 4 games in the NFL have been played against the best defenses in the league, (Ravens, Chargers, Jaguars) the other was in Blizzard, (Colts)  with the latest in a monsoon.

People need to give the kid some slack.

The only reason Allen is the starter this week is because if it's going to look as bad as it was last week, it might as well be chalked up to learning experience for your rookie franchise Qb.

His play didn’t translate into the NFL.

He's had a tough start to his career. It's not over. Especially considering both starts were on the road vs good defense and the Bills offense lacked weapons.

The same monsoon in which Flacco went 25/34 for 236 yards and 3 TD?  Must've had the wind at his back all game.

Even when playing against the very best defences a quarterback can still show competence and traits. Peterman is not an NFL qb period..he lacks the physical ability and the mental composure .
