They intended for Allen to start very early in the season when they traded McCarron. Watch them sign Paxton Lynch. Isn't Osweiler available??
Sweats Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 The shot that Peterman got was a double bogey.. They needed him to have a hole in one, maybe an eagle or hell, even a par would suffice......12 shots in the rough ain’t gonna get it done. 1 1

Aside from Groy and Dawkins, everyone else must go. ESPECIALLY DucASSe Groy???? He got pummelled to a pulp. He was part of the problem. Dawkins got manhandled by Suggs and Za"Darius Smith multiple times. 1

While resetting the roster they let it get so bad that their best bet may be to waste a year of development for Allen. That’s a sad state for an NFL team and when Allen goes through his bumps the second year that’s a year closer towards his payday. The beauty of hitting on a first round QB is the five years of control at a minimal cost. These clowns don’t even have a roster where it’s safe to let him develop. That’s not how a professional team is supposed to be run. It’s a disgrace. Per all the experts Allen was a “project” with all the tools but not ready to start in Year 1. So maybe your HC planned for this and is hoping load up next year with young skill players and signing some FA lineman to protect Allen?

unclepete Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 IDK if they can afford to start Josh Allen if he struggles mightily but Darnold and Mayfield play well. Would instantly put him n the hotseat

After that stretch of games, start the rookie. It’s a difficult situation because it’s more than a little awkward to say “Yeah, we know we have to go to Allen, but we’re not doing it until we think he can survive physically and mentally, so we’re just going to throw Peterman out here for a few more games. Let him take the beating while we move up in the next draft.” But that may just be what’s going to happen. Now, how do you explain that....without explaining that?
Dr.Sack Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 (edited) At this point you have to wonder does Peterman know how to throw a man open, does he process things slowly & because of that is that why he’s not an NFL caliber QB? Either way his lack of velocity, questionable durability, nerves, and unathleticism attribute to what we’ve seen so far on Sunday’s. I’m not sure how someone with so few ideal skills can get many more starts. Edited September 11, 2018 by Dr.Sack

davspo Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 Man everyone needs to relax a little - they played really really bad, but let’s play a few more games before we get the pitchforks out- with that said there is no reason to delay the Allen era. I bet 80% of the posters supported starting Peterman last week.
Another Fan Posted September 11, 2018 Posted September 11, 2018 If Allen starts Sunday and is still standing at the end of the game without the offense line getting him killed I'd consider that a victory in itself. Ideally I'd still like him to sit a few more weeks but on the flip side maybe baptism under fire may give him the foundation for both mental and physical toughness needed to play the full season. Just trying to make the most of a screwed up situation.
Mat68 Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 (edited) I dont understand why Mcdermott wouldn't do with Allen what he did with Edmunds. Similar age both freaky athletes both a little raw. Edmunds from first day at mini camp was groomed by McDermott to be the guy, how to lead. While at the same time Allen was regulate to third and getting the least amount of first team reps. Now 4 months later after 2 quarters of the first game Allen who was prepared to play the least by the coaching staff is the obvious player that needs to play. Same blunder Obrien made, Lovie Smith and Jon Fox got fired for it. It's a pretty big indictment of his evaluation and expectation of the position. Edited September 12, 2018 by Mat68 1

I can't figure out why the kid looks functional-to-decent in the preseason and then looks like a guy who won a "QB FOR THE DAY" fan contest in the regular season. I get it -- it's the preseason, blah, blah, blah... but still, he was able to execute the basic fundamentals of throwing and completing a pass to a receiver.

Bing Bong Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Peterman's already had his damn shot. That's what we gave up the chargers game for
