26CornerBlitz Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Billick: Josh Allen Should Start For Bills It’s not easy for rookie quarterbacks to play in Week 1 of the NFL season – especially when they’re inserted once their team is down 40-0 in the third quarter. That, however, was Josh Allen’s fate. Yes, the No. 7 overall pick made his NFL debut in Baltimore on Sunday, fishing 6-of-15 for 74 yards in a 47-3 loss to the Ravens. “I thought they’d start Josh Allen from the get-go,” NFL Network analyst Bill Billick said on Tiki and Tierney, “(but) as I was watching the Ravens defense (in the preseason), I said, ‘You know what? They may very well not start Josh Allen – because the last thing I want to do is expose a rookie to that defense.’ That could leave a mark.” Instead, the Bills started Nathan Peterman, who finished 5-of-18 for 24 yards and two interceptions. “How many examples do we need to see that this guy cannot play in the National Football League?” Billick asked. “Let him take the heat of what he was going to face in Baltimore. I’d be shocked if we didn’t see Josh Allen starting now going forward now that they’re past this onslaught of the Ravens defense. I am Mr. Advocate for starting rookies and playing them as much as you can, but I’m not sure I would have started Josh Allen against that defense.”
GunnerBill Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 It is a good question Brian. I can see it, you can see it, most fans can see it, the world's media can see it..... Sean needs to watch more time. Lord of Life Alive. 1

JPP Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 If they give Peterman the start than no doubt this coaching staff lives in a bubble
gridrick Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 most adults on the forum can see it. Why keep the guy if he cant play in the NFL? That's just the long term plan of building the squad some will argue. Keep putting Peterson in there and you'll cut guys like Edmunds career short

So either way he needs his hands off of the offense.
Nihilarian Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 If McD starts Peterman again it's only to protect his rookie from getting lambasted behind a bad, bad O line 2 1

Keep putting Peterson in there and you'll cut guys like Edmunds career short ...so then why the rush to trade McCarron for a HIGHLY valued and COVETED 5th round pick?....he may not have been the answer, but there were too many unanswered questions about Peterman as your starter while Josh develops.....sure Peterman had a fine TC & pre-season...but since when are rubber bullets the same as "live ammo"?......McD as the "guy in charge", Frazier, Daboll and Castillo were all woefully inept coaching failures with ZERO answers for the Ravens.... 2 3
paulbills Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Yeah, start the rookie and injure him before his career even begins behind a horrible O-Line, anyone who wants to start Allen isn't thinking straight, I guess Billick thinks the Chargers, Vikings and Packers don't have defenses similar to the Ravens or something? You start Allen and when he does terrible against these defenses then what? Why even risk him getting injured in the process? This is exactly why we should have kept AJ. 1

This is exactly why we should have kept AJ. we should wrap him in bubble wrap and put him on a shelf until we have an all-pro line and hall of fame WR corp. and then we'll have an unwrapping ceremony, and he can bloom into a super bowl QB. that's how you do these things. 3 1
Nihilarian Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Beane should be on the phone to Paxton Lynch, Matt Moore and looking for a left guard that can actually block without penalties. Not to mention a WR who can get separation AND CATCH THE DARN BALL!
C.Biscuit97 Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 I hope I’m wrong but Allen gives me Kyle Boller flashbacks. Boller had a cannon!!!

Or you can throw a starter out there (this is where AJ would have been perfect in place of peterman) and give Allen his reps in the 3rd and 4th when games become out of reach, you don't just throw him to the wolves and pray for the best. 1

I almost will give them a pass for the oline because of Wood’s injury, RI insanity, etc. but they have sucked at evaluating wrs for 2 years! How do you into a season again with such a garbage group? 1

Peterman might outplay Montana in preseson, but who are ya gonna start? What your saying is the writing on the wall, it's a matter of time before this regime is exited unless Allen can save their ass.

My dad insists that they don’t value speed enough. I’m not sure that I disagree. You need to make plays over the top in this league (at least sometimes). 1
