The one thing I can’t believe is the the dramatic, over-the-Top, extreme, comically sad, romanticizing Of Bills fans for the past.  Today’s here are some of the legit takes that came from this board:

- We never should have fired Doug Whaley

- We never should have traded Sammy Watkins

- We should have let Tyrod

- We never should have let Fitzpatrick walk 6 years ago

- I wish we kept Chan Gailey, he knew how to run an offense

- Why did we let Robert Woods walk?

Its ridiculous!  These comments are not contradictory to the sentiments of the past, they are contradictory to sentiments from

yeaterday.   Go back to 2012, people complained about Fitz and his “noodle arm” and the INT’s late in the game that sealed the loss.  People applauded the Bills for trading Sammy for a 2nd after he he proved he wasn’t he game breaker that many were hoping for.  And some people applauded the firing of Doug Whaley whose record as GM speaks for itself, though some also defended him as Whaley is the most polarizing figure in Bills history.

And its not just this game.  Any time something goes wrong for the Bills or anytime a former Bills player or coach achieves a moderate amount of success it’s always “oh I wish we still Mike Gilislee” or “why didn’t we resign Chris Hogan,” or “I wish Doug Whaley was still the GM.”

This is my friends of romanticism.  Kind of like the old, overweight 50 year dude who sits in his messy studio apartment on Electric Avenue in Lackawanna and pines to back to the days when he was muscular and handsome and dating his beautiful red-haired old high-school sweetheart.  “Oh I wish I never dumped Lucy to play the field.  She was my one, true love.  I never should have broken up with her.” And in case your wondering, no that 50 year old is not me.

But this emotional romanticism and looking back at the past through rose-colored glasses needs to stop.   It’s as useless and sad as that 50 year-old pining for Lucy (again, not me).  Point is grow up and go Bills!

The problem is that the overweight, 50 year old dude reminisces about his high school sweetheart because he's miserable and his life sucks.

No one would want Whaley, Sammy, or Gillislee back if the Bills were good.  The answer is the Bills to be good.

Right....exactly.  It’s just as pathetic as the 50 year old from Lackawanna, who is not me FYI

How does it stack up to the "emotional romanticizing" of current players, coaches, and front office personnel?  Is it any less ridiculous?

Here are legit takes from the past 2 weeks:

-Peterman could be our Brady

-Peterman = Brees

-McDermott and Beane are building the 89' Cowboys

Oh, and does this concept apply to romanticizing former members of the Buffalo News?

Well to be fair, Torell Troup getting selected by us exactly one pick ahead of Rob Gronkowski who went to the patriots is a really hard pill to swallow lol.

I guess we could discuss Sully, interviews Sully gives, and websites he starts instead, according to your preferences?

What I want to see stop is demonstrations of historic incompetence on the part of current Bills coaches and players.   Absent that, what folks want to talk about seems like small stuff.

I personally have trouble getting over TJ Graham while Wilson was on the. Board.

Like who Lisa Wilson?

The bad takes on current players or coaches?  I get that, it’s optimism.  Yes they are probably just as ridiculous.  But the pining for the past is just plain pathetic.

I’m just saying the whole “oooooh why did we move on from Tyrod” is silly.   Like I mentioned before it’s the 50 year thinking back to his high-school sweet heart from Lackawanna (not me)

Truly historic.

I don't think many of us want Whaley, Sammy, Tyrod or Fitz back, but we do miss, at least in some fashion, the talent represented by players like Gilmore, Darby, Brown, Hogan, Woods and Goodwin.  All of these players would be upgrades compared to what we have now.  Even Dareus would be an upgrade, but not at the salary we were paying him.  I get it that we could not afford to keep most of these players if we had wanted to, but that is just part of the poor cap management legacy of the prior front office.

...or we could just be moderators that attack members with cheap shots, but you know.

Also to be fair if we hadn't forced the JP trade up we could of had Rodgers the next year.    That one doesn't sting, it burns.

How is that a cheap shot or an attack?  Are these or are these not topics you have introduced and pursued?

I just find it ironic that you’re so prescriptive and even sanctimonious about what should or should not be discussed here given topics you introduce.

It’s not a mod thing.
