The Summer of 2018 is complete. School is back in session, football season has arrived, and the leaves are starting to change color. As for movies it is the start of what is known as the "Adult Season" of movies. Meaning that more serious fare and less mindless fare is here. It also starts the search for early Oscar contenders, primarily with Independent films. However, there are still a few big budget films that will be shown off this month as well. Leading that charge is a science fiction/thriller franchise.

Director Eli Roth goes the family film route, with a touch of horror, as Universal Presents, "The House With A Clock In It's Walls". A young orphan named Lewis Barnavelt aids his magical uncle in locating a clock with the power to bring about the end of the world. Starring Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, Lorenza Izzo, Kyle MacLachlan, & Owen Vaccaro.

Jennifer Garner stars in "Peppermint". A revenge story centering on a young mother who finds herself with nothing to lose, and is now going to take from her enemies the very life they stole from her. Also starring John Gallagher, Jr., John Ortiz & Juan Pablo Raba.

In "The Sisters Brothers", In 1850s Oregon, a gold prospector is chased by the infamous duo of assassins, the Sisters brothers. Starring John C. Reilly, Joaquin Phoenix, Jake Gyllenhaal, Riz Ahmed & Rutger Hauer.

Anna Kendrick & Blake Lively star in, "A Simple Favor". Centers around Stephanie, a mommy blogger who seeks to uncover the truth behind her best friend Emily's sudden disappearance from their small town.

In "Unbroken: Path to Redemption", Shares the next amazing chapter of Olympian and World War II hero Louis Zamperini's powerful true story of forgiveness, redemption, and amazing grace. Starring Samuel Hunt, Merritt Patterson, Will Graham & Gary Cole.

The last movie I saw was Mission Impossible 40... 47, 48? Anyhooo the  one they released this summer.  The next movie I plan on seeing is Bohemian Rapsody - which begins a close to a movie-a-week for me cycle from the beginning of November through the end of December.  Nothing is catching my interest in September or October, but I look forward to reading the reviews here and having my mind changed. ?

"First Man" & "A Star Is Born" are both October releases. No interest in those?

Predator wasn't very good.  It's not Shane Black's best work.  You can certainly tell the studio's heavy hand was involved.  Movie is choppy, casting is terrible.  Have no idea why Olivia Munn gets roles.  If she was any more wooden, she'd be a grandfather clock.

If they are going to make the entire series of move canon, it would have been a better story if they cobbled together the survivors of the previous Predator films and built from there.

I would watch if they decided to team up Arnold and Danny Glover and have them defend the retirement home.

Since they essentially made all the Predator movies "count" with the ending, you could legitimately build an Avengers squad ranging from Arnold and Danny Glover (Predators 1 & 2), Adrian Brody and and Alice Braga (Predators), Sanaa Lathan (Alien vs. Predator) and the couple nobodys that survived Aliens vs. Predator 2.

You could say Stallone stole the Expendables idea from Predator as at the time, the movie collected nearly all the mid 80s B level tough guys in one film in addition to the star.

"A Star is Born" looks like it could be pretty damn good.

Predator was entertaining, but definitely not a good movie by general standards. Some of the dialogue and actions are just really stupid.

I went into the predator with no expectations and liked it. It was entertaining, but like you said, not a good movie by general standards
