From Matthew Fairburn at The Athletic

When should the Bills turn to Josh Allen? Three guys who've...

Joey Harrington let out a long sigh as he thought back to the start of his NFL career.

The Detroit Lions drafted Harrington No. 3 overall in the 2002 NFL draft out of Oregon. He and the Lions thought he had everything he needed to carry that success into the NFL. It wasn’t until he got on the field that Harrington realized how unprepared he really was.

It’s not that Harrington didn’t have the arm or the mind for the NFL game when he took over for Mike McMahon as a rookie in 2002. He just wasn’t ready. Harrington didn’t know what game film was and didn’t lift weights until he got to college. What he needed when he got to the NFL was time.

He didnt know what game film was?  The problem with all this stuff is every player is different.  Guys who have sat have been great...guys who have played right away have been great.  There is no answer.  And some guys just arent good no matter what.

In the end its up the coaching staff to prepare their players and make the call when they should start.

The Bills need a third QB.. on.practice squad to be ready.  I am sure Jeff Tuel won't be available if both roster QB's go down. (yes, he started against the Chiefs a few years ago as an undrafted rookie)   Reckless planning on the part of McBean imho.

Allen should be the starter after the bye imho.
