beacon Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 2019 Buffalo Bills Cap Hit Rankings......just wondering, they probably are forced to keep Star, but does anyone know if they take big hits if they cut the rest of these players? Maybe Kyle too? PLAYER CAP HIT 1 Star Lotulelei DEFENSIVE TACKLE $11,500,000 2 Jerry Hughes DEFENSIVE END $10,400,000 3 LeSean McCoy RUNNING BACK $9,050,000 4 Charles Clay TIGHT END $9,000,000 5 Trent Murphy OUTSIDE LINEBACKER $8,575,000
nucci Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Cap space doesn't mean much if there aren't any great players available to sign 4 1
Johnny Hammersticks Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 I don’t expect Charles Clay and Trent Murphy to be on the 2019 roster.
RPbillsfan Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 We currently have $81,000,000 to spend with 34 players signed and 10 draft choices. I'm thinking we are in really good shape to build on our weakest parts next year. 2 2
H2o Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Depending on how Shady looks, and how this home invasion thing plays out, he may not be on the roster as well. 1
zevo Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 The real season begins next year and the clock on beane and McDermott. Anything else prior is bonus ie making the playoffs last year
JoeF Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Welcome to the board. Kyle is on a one-year deal so no cap implications. The decision will be if he wants to play another year and probably at a similar pay to this year, $5.5 Million. There will be little pressure to cut anyone for "cap purposes" next year. The Bills have $84 Million plus in 2019 space according to over the cap: https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/buffalo-bills/ 1

The difference between keeping or ridding ourselves of Clay before the 2019 season is $4.5M. For that they may as well keep him - unless there is youth that forces him out or he starts to struggle. They are cheap, and potentially give you the chance to get a highly talented player for little. They also make you look smarter when you hit on them. In some cases their your only way to get high level talent cause the guys without baggage have better options to sign to
thurst44 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 I don’t expect Charles Clay and Trent Murphy to be on the 2019 roster. Wow, dismissing Murphy before he ever plays a game?
baskingridgebillsfan Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Cap space doesn't mean much if there aren't any great players available to sign This is a great point that a lot are missing
beacon Posted September 3, 2018 Author Posted September 3, 2018 Thanks JoeF. Appreciate the info. overthecap really breaks the $$$ down.
Johnny Hammersticks Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Wow, dismissing Murphy before he ever plays a game? Will he even play a game this season? How much did he actually practice/play in the preseason? Not exactly a bold prediction on my part.
CaptnCoke11 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Overpaying for a bunch a free agents isn’t the way to build a winning team.. Just be back in cap hell 4/5 years down the road 2
Rocbillsfan1 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Whose got the free agent list by position for next year
thurst44 Posted September 3, 2018 Posted September 3, 2018 Will he even play a game this season? How much did he actually practice/play in the preseason? Not exactly a bold prediction on my part. Yes, because teams NEVER rest recovering players in meaningless games. I'm sorry it just seems a bit tacky to run down one of our own players before he's even played. We’re stuck with Star for at least 3 years Again, maybe let's let them play an actual in-season game before we run down our new players.
