Steptide Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Seems to be 2 sides to the fans lately. The fans that want to try and win and start whoever gives us the best chance, and the fans who want to start Allen regardless of how bad he might be to get experience and develop. I'm on the side of whoever gives us the best chance to win. Call me selfish, but I want more of what we had at the end of last season. I understand Peterman or Allen or McCarron may not get us to the playoffs this year. But I personally have seen so many seasons of developing a qb with this team (Losman, Edwards, Manuel) that I really don't want another 5 or 6 win season just so we can go into next season with some hope. I personally don't care if Peterman is our starter for the next 4 years if he's THAT good. Romo sat 4 seasons before he became starter. No I don't expect Allen to sit that long, but I also don't wanna see this team crash and burn this year, only to hope that the team is better next year.

Coming off of the draft I think most would have said development. Camp made us a little too optimistic for the coming season. I think that we have too many areas of uncertainty to expect anything other than development. Keep our 2019 picks and have more expectations for that season.
teef Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I wasn’t expecting much at all this year, so for me it’sall about development. Especially at the qb position. That being said, I don’t expect to see a train wreck of a season either. Gradual progress would make me happy. 7

Gives the Bills the best chance to have a winning season, and will have better development than sitting on the bench. 1
Straight Hucklebuck Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I'm on the side of getting Allen in there right now. Waiting until the team is perfect is not realistic in my opinion. At the latest Allen has to be starting by 2019.
Jauronimo Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 (edited) Both please. I do not believe the two are mutually exclusive. Edited August 27, 2018 by Jauronimo 7 1
Foreigner Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 This was stupid. The coaches and players are professionals who get paid. Why would they not try and win? We are living in todays' world. Who cares about next year at this point, but don't worry because with this OL there will not be many wins with whoever is sacrificed at QB this year.

I bet under 6.5 last week and don’t regret it. I hope it is a donation but at least it’s a hedge. This is a 3 year process IMO. If Allen proves that he can play I’m not worried about much else this year. Hopefully we find some guys that can play (maybe Teller for example) and worry about everything else next offseason. Let’s load up next year and take our shot. 1

If Allen and Edmunds both look like they’re going to develop into the guys we need them to be, I’ll be satisfied. I just don’t know what to think after the Cincy game. It had that Rex Ryan type disorganization to it. 2
Dr.Sack Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 If we play this out conservatively a similar argument could be made next year that Allen is not ready and has limited experience. This isn’t the 2004 Chargers with 4th year veteran Drew Brees. Peterman is not Drew Brees. Brees never had a game like Peterman had against LA last year. Furthermore Allen needs to take a beating in 2018 to learn. In 2004 rookie Big Ben was not ready but started nonetheless. He was told to play it conservatively and didn’t do much his first year statistically. I see Alleen enduring on the worse end an Aikman like 1989. On the top end we will get a Big Ben 2004 season. I don’t care about winning in 2018. This is all about letting the rookie battle through the growing pains.
Seanbillsfan2206 Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Anything less than 9-7 will be a disappointment 1
Marv's Neighbor Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Winning should always be NO1. If we can win, development will take care of itself. 2 1

berg1029 Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I fall into the "both" category. Let Peterman start, he's earned it. He has looked good all preseason. Give the guy a shot, forget what happened last year. If he turns things around, it's a great feel good story and he will become trade bait or our franchise QB. If he doesn't impress then you let Allen play once Peterman has proved he is not the guy and the Bills are out of it. 1
ghostwriter Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Playoffs first, if or when we're out of the playoffs hunt we bench Peterman for Allen.
corta765 Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 I WANT BOTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

A little thought exercise--imagine we win the Superbowl. Feels good. What a rush. Then what? Then nothing. Your life won't change. Nothing magical happens. Ultimately, the key to this whole football fan thing is enjoying Sundays as much as possible. No point in pissing a single Sunday down the drain. 3
Playoffs? Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Obviously want both.. but if the Bills know they won’t win much this year, do they trade Shady now?
