Ned Flanders Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 They need to bring this guy(s) back...from 1974, how many remember this mascot gem? Think it last about two seasons, max. 1 1 1

I seem to recall the Bisons doing something similar with their mascot Buster about 20-25 years ago. Yep. Buster, who's an absolute badass, and his cousin Chip. But Chip was never Buster. He was always the "cute" counterpart to the cool Buster.

Don Beebe Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Thanks for this post. I have been feeling a down lately and the comments on this really got me laughing. The best one was, Looks like a cow had sex with a bear. That was great!
GETTOTHE50 Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 (edited) I need to see him jump through a couple tables after some keg stands before I call him coo. Edited August 28, 2018 by GETTOTHE50

When Chip first showed up, Buster suddenly disappeared, and none of us in our section heard how or why, or who exactly the new mascot was supposed to be. Some of Pete Weber's on air comments led me to think they had 'softened' Buster's image, and this new mascot was Buster, part deux. A couple of weeks later the 'old' Buster was back (the costume was probably out at the cleaners), the new guy was Chip. I have never heard an 'officially sanctioned explanation' of the multiple mascots.
1st Ammendment NoMas Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Well he still looks tougher than Ducasse. Overall, a horrid video and terrible new look for Billy. I guess they want to make him more family friendly.

I do know from reading the back of Chip's baseball card (that came with the team set I bought every year) that he's Buster's younger cousin.
MJS Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I suppose they are trying to make him less scary and more lovable for the little kids. I'll be honest, I couldn't care less about the mascot.

He immediately gave the new look a big thumbs down, saying, "Now Billy looks too happy. We made the playoffs but didn't win enough to be happy, yet." Love this thought process. The new mascot is fat and happy over squeaking into a playoff loss???? ? 1

The Process Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Is he named after Billy Fichner? Gymnast extraordinaire from Maryvale?
