I'm too far from Philly to  get the good $. I'm 2 counties west. I'm sure I could get a better paying job in West Chester or Philly, but then you're talking a minimum of 45 minute commute each way or a train ride. Right now I'm driving 11 minutes, the bills are getting paid and I have a little beer money. The juice ain't worth the squeeze at this stage of my life.

I hear you brother.

I've managed to whittle my commute down to 1 day a week. Good thing too, as it's 1.5 hours each way.

Hoping to get it to zero days a week, then I can literally work from anywhere.

Would you consider giving us a glimpse into your life? One dood here is always talking about the inland waterways and other dam things (please, for the love of all that is holy, if you know the poster I’m referring to, never bring up Asian carp with him/her). He’s always posting pics, vids etc.  Between you and I, really boring stuff. I know yours would be better.

Ha! Trust me, it's not as glamorous as it sounds. Shrimp, catfish, shad, repeat. No corporate bs, but alot of work.

But I still don't have enough money for hookers and blow, so I've got to economize.   I can't live like this anymore

And don't say I have to choose!  You can't have one without the other.  I'm not going to half ass my vices.   It's All in or nothing!

Why is it that you pay less for a bigger hooker than you do for a smaller hooker?  You know, if you're paying for a hooker it should be reasonable, less is more doesn't make sense

I spend at least $400 a month on porn mags. Not even new, Used from the flea market.

I never would have guessed you were a man of such taste and culture.  Much like myself.  I recently stumbled across a rare vintage of clown themed pornographic films while exploring the contents of an otherwise unremarkable dumpster.  We should talk more.  Perhaps over Vienna sausages and a bottle of mad dog?

Not on topic, but weddings are driving me crazy right now.  4 on the calendar this year and I'm in 3 of them.  Every one of them has meant airfare and hotel.  Also, 2 bachelor parties.  Skipped one since they couldn't get their **** together and give me any notice on where to be and when.  Then there's the gifts and tux rentals and all the other incidental travel expenses.  All this to celebrate a new tax advantaged relationship structure.

When you look at the dollar cost of supporting your friends and family it really makes you consider what is love and friendship really worth?  I could have gone on a big vacation or better yet, planned for my future and invested my money in a really nice watch to attract vapid, money grubbing sluts who are willing to overlook glaring personality flaws. But instead I wasted it all.

Cost of Buffalo Bills season.

I can remember spending $1,500  a year back in the mid 90s.  Now close to $12,000 a year.

All things included.

Thank god for Meadcoins.

What's really gonna piss you off is when they start getting divorced after a year or two.

The struggle is real my friend. Most of my friends wives are stay at home moms or work part time. My wife reminds me that more than I would like. There's no damn way on Gods green earth that I'm getting a 2nd job so she can stay home. We both make decent money for the area we live in, but there's no way we could live how we live on one income without going into debt. And it's not like we're living an extravagant lifestyle as it is now.

Ottawa's not cheap either. To be a homeowner means an hour commute. As my wife doesn't drive we've stayed urban and are renters as a result

My health insurance company is giving everyone a 5% increase in rates, unless you do a screening, take some online health assessment and then sign a pledge not to use any tobacco products.

So far I'm 2/3 and I'll be signing the pledge as soon as open enrollment starts.   It sucks that they make you jump through these hoops but worth it not to have a 5% increase.

Welcome to the first steps of socialized medicine and government intrusion. Eat your veggies. Now I do like the carrot versus the stick the government usually uses bit still.

How many products and services do we partake in where we are forced to sign a pledge?

Sorry to make this political.

no worries man I completely agree.  The health assessment was BS.  They took blood samples but did not make people fast, so how good can the sample be?  Then they weighed me but the scale was WAYYYY off.  I mean 27lbs off and I protested but I don't know they didn't adjust it, I think it was hung up on the baseboard.  I assume next year when i show to have gained almost 30lbs my rate will skyrocket so  kinda pissed about that.

This is one cost of living complaint I feel is justified.   I can't get along without health insurance.   I had an emergency appendectomy 6 years ago that would have cost me 35,000 dollars and bankrupted me. I ended up paying about a grand.

But it's cheaper for me to be on a separate policy and the wife and kids to be on one together.   So we do that.
