This was what I saw too. The Chargers exposed Edmunds' inability to cover smaller/quicker backs and laid a blue print for every other team we are going to face. Coach Sal was also discussing this and seems to think it is a sign of his inexperience rather than it being because he is too big, but I have my doubts....Edmunds looked so bad I was embarrassed for him, he should not be starting in this league at the moment.

He looked bad.

Which NFL MLB do you think covers a quality, 340 catch slot receiver on that play? SD knew that TEd was cheating on running plays. Took advantage. We'll see if every other team will counter-attack what the HC did in the second half.

But he looked consistently bad.

Maybe. He's been in 6 contests and frankly I've seen two or four plays that indicate some ability and can counter that with around 20 or 30 that show he's not even in the vicinity of an NFL linebacker. I'm not a gloom and doom guy. I never even liked Josh Allen and I think he still shows potential. But you have to show us SOMETHING.

Yesterday was basically why I was saying during the pre-season that I didn't view Edmunds as an upgrade over Preston Brown in the short-term. Certainly has a world of potential, but he's just not there yet. Brown was very unspectacular, but he was an okay starter; Edmunds isn't yet.

Boys..I am really worried here. From my seats yesterday, seemed pretty apparent Rivers would identify #49s responsibility..and attack. lets hope he learns..cause he was BY FAR the worst player on the field yesterday..on both sides of the ball

He's a 20 year old rookie in his second NFL start.

You're better than this, man.

Nope sorry, I think his story is finished.  Time to trade him for a 6th and the panthers 5th string DT.  Stick a fork in him

Sarcasm?

Big time.  Criticism is justified and expected, but gd anyone complaining must have expected him to walk in as an all pro and play lights out on the worst team in the league day 1

Tale of two halves.  Our entire defense has looked back for 6 out of the 8 quarters they've played so far.

He was successfully schemed against all day.  Wisenhunt was able to get Keenan Allen and Gordon in enough space to create the mismatch against Edmunds.

We didn't figure out anything, anywhere until McDermott took over playcalling duties.  We gave up 3 points in the 2nd half when we gave up 79 points in the first 6 quarters.

It seems like most people skipped over the draft report. He is a big athletic linebacker best suited for OLB. He is not a great tackler and really relies on his size to bring people down. They are trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

I am really surprised the team is starting him. It seems like someone his age should be brought along slowly behind an aging, but knowledgeable vet.  The MLB market isn’t exactly expensive. It could’ve/should’ve been done that way.

Big athletic young 20 year old LB, should have a better pep in his step when covering people if he is so big athletic and young-  rather than getting burned on every single play

Is Josh Allen expected to come out and look like an All Pro? I don’t think so. Neither is Edmunds. These guys are ROOKIES and are going to make ROOKIE mistakes. At this point I believe Edmunds may look a tad bit better than Allen at this point. AND THAT IS OK

two games in and people are already impatient with rookies.  awesome.

It's the new normal at TSW, but thankfully, the staff gave us an ignore feature!

Coverage scheme had him manning up on Keenan Allen in the slot repeatedly in the first half.

What linebacker in the NFL aside from maybe Miles Jack should ever be doing that?

They took it away in the second half.
