Bills claim DL Albert Havili

The Bills made a roster move at the close of training camp Wednesday, as they claimed rookie DL Albert Havili off waivers from the Los Angeles Chargers.

Havili plays both defensive tackle and defensive end. The 6-2, 255-pound Eastern Washington product was a second team All-Big Sky Conference honors as a senior. Havili was fifth in the Big Sky Conference in sacks with seven. He also had 41 total tackles, four passes broken up and seven quarterback hurries.

To make room on the roster the Bills designated DT Marquavius Lewis will be waived/injured.

Career: Entering his final year as an Eagle, Havili has 148 tackles in his 42-game Eastern career. With 16 career starts, he has the fifth-most on the defense and overall. He started twice in 2014 as a linebacker before a knee injury forced him to redshirt in the 2015 season. His injury occurred in the first padded practice in spring of 2015 right after he moved from linebacker to defensive end. He set an EWU true freshman record with 61 tackles in 2013. He’s played in eight career games in the FCS Playoffs (2013, 2014, 2016) and has 34 tackles, three sacks, one interception returned 77 yards for a TD and a forced fumble. 2017: Listed as a starter at field end on the preseason depth chart. He had 12 tackles in three spring scrimmages to rank third on the defense.

How big was he in school?

One site shows he was two lbs. shy of 280 lbs. at some point while in school, I just read an interview that was published January this year and he states that he's 270 lbs.

Looking at his build in the picture I would've guessed his natural position was always LB.

Compares himself to Michael Bennett...that would definitely be welcomed.
