Hapless Bills Fan
While coaches cuss and are hard on players, investigation following the heatstroke death of offensive lineman Jordan McNair's death in June after a football workout claims evidence that Coach Durkin and Court were over-the-top: http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/24342005/maryland-terrapins-football-culture-toxic-coach-dj-durkin (also stupidly ineffective as well as dangerous, from the sound of it) From descriptions, McNair was having extreme difficulty standing upright whilst running sprints. He suffered a seizure at 5 pm. 911 was apparently not called until 5:58 pm. McNair's family has retained a law firm and may well own a good piece of U of Maryland when all's said and done if reports are correct. A football coaching staff that is unable to recognize and respond promptly to signs of heat stroke or to a seizure should NOT be coaching football. Not saying all the coaches have to do so, but there better be someone there who is qualified, and he'd better be respected by all coaches. Buffalo716
Sadly this happens about once a year... I have no doubt they will make some $$ in a lawsuit but they will never have their son back

I don’t “get” what goes on in the coaches’ minds. How can they not notice that a player is seriously whacked and needs help? Why wait for 45 minutes to call 911? Why not have appropriate stuff to cool players suffering from heat stroke or even exhaustion handy - ice, cooling pads, towels to soak etc., it’s not rocket science
