If you think about it, he started at least in HS playing football...strong possibility even before that.

He's now mid 30's...football has probably been with him most of his life and now it's gone.

I played college ball and it was weird when I was done....like really weird.  I started when I was 5 until I was 22...that's a major piece of your life just gone.

I do feel I'm a little more stable mentally than Richie so I've been okay.

Well, we all have our opinions!     ?

I’m sure it’s VERY real for a LOT of people who lose an important part of their lives. It’s part of what you do and “who you are”. People say I’m a banker, or I’m an accountant, or I am a professional body model for underwear ads (well, you get the idea!). That’s not really what you are, it’s what you DO, which is so much bigger.

I am Alabama fan and I had little sympathy for Dareus. The watershed for me was when he showed up to camp fat and out of shape and then worked on a deal to buy another bar in BHM when he was on leave for his brother's funeral. Buying a bar shouldn't be part of the grieving process.

The idea that this is racist is absurd.  I actually was POd that there was so MUCH sympathy for Dareus on this board.  I thought he was lazy, meanwhile blaming depression over his half brother, while impregnating a few woman, I guess to relieve depression..............I didn't even know about the bar deal.

I feel equally non sympathetic about Richie.  He's an asshat.  I did think he had grown up the last few years but obviously not.

I guess not. Why don’t you teach me. Your personal attacks are getting just weird.  You could learn some mental health from Richie.

you consider this a personal attack?  come one ned...you need to toughen up.  well...let's look at it.  cogs is an aging lineman who at time can be a handful.  the bills put a value on him, presented the contract to him and his agent, and they both agreed.  now something happened shortly after that where richie started complaining on twitter, retires, and the bills let him go.  this is followed up by throwing weights at another person at a gym, being taken away by the cops, and a slew of bizarre tweets.  can you really not fathom why the bills were ready to cut ties with this man?  i really liked him in buffalo, but it's pretty obvious that his time in football is over.  but why see it logically when you can just complain about it...right?

I looked for the link on the negotiations he was doing on the bar/nightclub when he was in BHM for his brother’s funeral, but couldn’t find it. I reported on it at the time, but there was surprisingly little outrage.

......you would think this kid learned his lesson......Bflo took him when the Rams dumped him due to his "squirrel cage".....one year and he wanted out.....blackballed for a year with the Miami fiasco which easily cost him $2+ mil......and of all teams to give him a 2nd chance, Bflo steps up......Overdorf crafts the PERFECT CONTRACT,  a pay as you go deal......eff up and you're gone....model citizen through 16 and there is a nice reward......extended so a total of 3 years in Bflo as a model citizen and OL force......probably could have played two more years and banked $6-7 mil.......instead he redefines "bizarre"  with HC Zimmer as his latest victim ala, "effin' liar".....

The latest crazy train started with the Jacksonville playoff game.

I agree.  Something either what he did or how he reacted to investigation triggered reaction by Pegulas/coach/GM.

This lead to disagreement with agent and agent's actions followed by his comment on what medical doctor told him which he used as way to try to get out of contract his agent agreed to.  If he had told Bills he did not understand what agent signed rather than going thru convoluted path.  He would just have been another veteran who was cut refusing a pay cut.

....how could the "agent sign" without authorization?.....what club would accept an agent signature on behalf of their client?........secondly, wouldn't that require POWER OF ATTORNEY to sign on someone's behalf?...ain't passing the smell test IMO.....

Yes that is what I heard from source inside agency his agent had such powers, was busy (assumed with doctors' appointments since comments came at same time) and he agreed to cut over phone.  Not saying Cog was blameless here; he should have taken more time to say yes.

I get the feeling that football is his crutch and now that he doesn't have it....it's hard for him to keep sane.  Going on these bizarre twitter rants is probably him just trying to pass time or something.  Sounds like he's got nothing to keep him occupied which eventually that could get ugly.

He has been playing football (his crutch") for many years....and he has been a sociopath all along.  He was suspended multiple times (ultimately "indefinitely") at nebraska, where he fought with his own teammates in the locker room, spit on opponents, then bolted Nebraska and went to Oregon, where the HC dumped him a week later for not going to anger management as was a condition of him getting own the team.  His pathological behavior in Miami get him thrown out of the NFL.

It has nothing to do with football.

He'll shoot the Vikes an upbeat emoji-filled tweet...but only once their training camp is over.  ?

I get your point.  I’ve also learned a long time ago not to tell anyone how they should grieve.  Especially after your brother gets murdered.

I freely admit I have a ton more sympathy for Dareus than Incognito and most other athletes.  His amount of death in his life is more than most people see in a lifetime.  It certainly doesn’t excuse his being lazy but i get it more than most other athletes.  If situations were reversed, I’d feel a lot more sympathy for RI.  However all of his situations seem self inflicted going all the way back to college, if not sooner.  It kinda blows my mind that some fans feel an ounce of pity for him.  I don’t want him to die or anything but he’s not a great guy.

And when the Vikings reply 'no thank you', watch the profanities fly!

When you post that you "hate me" yes I take that and your other comments personally.  I mean listen to yourself.  You hate someone you dont know over posts about football.  You get all agitated over everything I post. If I dont see things your way I am not logical and that's complaining?  I think having a nutjob on the line is great.  I want an in control lunatic blocking for my RB.  This is football.  Seemed to work fine for 3 years.

I hate you?  Ned...in no way, shape or form do I hate you, or anyone else. If that was said, it was said completely as a joke. I like all different personalities on the board. That’s what makes it fun.

And I do agree with having a bit of a head case on the line. The problem is when it starts tipping over from football crazy to real life crazy. Throwing weights a people at a gym, mumbling about how you’re being followed, and having to be taken away by the police for a mental health evaluation is real life crazy. That’s happened too much with Ritchie. It’s over unfortunately.
