I honestly think incognito is just messing with everyone. I think he finds it funny. Good example of how that whole situation in Miami may have happened

That would be nice if true, unfortunately he has been a pos for a long time. Check out his history in college. Myself, I think he was roid raging it through high school and college and exacerbated his mental problems.

He was whacked by college. Granted mental illness is nothing to joke about that, and maybe it has always been an issue for him.

He just has always came across as someone who was raised poorly to me. Idk if mental illness makes you fondle cart girls at a golf course. But I guess no one is actually responsible for the things they do anymore. We can just chalk it up to mental illness and now they're a sympathetic figure.

I'm not saying your inconsistent, perhaps you felt this way with Dareus or other players.

But I do honestly wonder if he'd be received as a sympathetic figure by Bills fans if her were black. Dareus also has mental health issues in my opinion and instead of support, he got ran out of town and ripped for making the money he did.

A similar sentiment came up when a poster made a thread about if the NFL can make contracts guaranteed due to the head injuries and potential the game has in making life difficult by 30s and 40s.

I was repeatedly told, why should we feel sorry for millionaires just because the billionaires won't pay them more money.

And yet every Ritchie thread their are posters who cast him as a sympathetic figure.

Incognito put forth a tremendous effort on the field, was way underpaid,  and did bizarre “not all there” things like accuse someone in a weight room of being a spy, then chasing him around and throwing a dumbbell at him.

Dareus was lazy on the field, whined about only being offered $90 million from Bills, and made extremely selfish decisions like street racing and nearly killing people and now apparently intentionally spreading STDs.

Richie appears to be legitimately whacked out, while Dareus faced traumatic emotional experiences but still consciously makes extremely selfish choices.

looks like Richie has changed his personality again...his twitter went from "Richie Incognito" to "Richard Dominick Incognito" and is now back to just "Richie Incognito"...this at the same time as apologizing for the Zimmer remarks....maybe its a split personality??

Sympathetic figure? He is getting roasted by the overwhelming majority of the board for being a jack ass. He came here on a minimal deal as a reclamation project, his situation is in no way comparable to Dareus.

Nice try.

He doesn't need football, he needs to be committed to a mental health facility.

And someone to change his Twitter password.

And neither are Bills now.  And rightly so.  They are apples to oranges, but in the end, both bad bets now.

Guy is not gonna make it in normal life. It’s like we’re watching a slow motion wreck

Agree.  After the JMart affair, Incognito initially acted out (Ferrari), then apparently sought and completed some serious rehab/mental health treatment.  We didn't hear much of anything from him during that time away from football.

This time he seems to be cruising down a river in Egypt (denial), not getting the help he needs, and basically being self-destructive in various ways.

I seem to remember a lot of sympathy for Dareus.  After the first suspension, the drag racing right before he signed a big contract.  He's young, we said.  He's adrift, we said.  He's suffered incredible loss in his life, all those people in his family or close to him being killed or dying.  That's got to mess with a kid's mind.  He's gonna turn the corner, so let's celebrate "Mr Big Stuff"s big contract.

Even after the disappointing 2015 season and the 2016 4 game suspension when the statement was issued that he had decided to seek help and enter a rehab facility, I remember a lot of folks being sympathetic.

Only then it came out, "Cap Hat"s idea of rehab was partying down on Chippewa followed by hanging out in Virginia Beach with Bruce Smith, and he came back and mailed it in.

2017: Out of shape, late for meetings, violating team rules, said to be sleeping in meetings, visibly taking plays off.  All of that sharply eroded Dareus sympathy base in Buffalo.

In contrast, while he was here, no one had anything bad to say about the effort or team participation that Incognito put in.  He was all in, all the time, every play, never a word about him being late or missing busses or sleeping through meetings.

If Dareus had gone to rehab as he said he would, sought mental health treatment (as Cog did when he was out of the league after JMart) and then put in 100% effort with the team and on the field, his off field issues would probably be viewed more sympathetically.    Right now, with Ritchie missing a few Cogs and acting out, he isn't garnering a lot of sympathy that I see and if he acted like that and were still here, I don't think he'd get any.  The boy is cray-cray and we want him to "seek professional help"

When that kind of crazy gets on the field in front of a RB good things still happen.

oh of course.  the problem is keeping the crazy contained before and after the games.

We just don't know the whole story, but this is hardly the 1st time Richie has acted wacky for no apparent reason. I thought he was doing better, but I guess not. The accusations after the JAX playoff game still resonate here.

I get it- it’s over with cog, because it was going to be over.

He took a pay cut then regretted it probably because he was all over the place in his own mind.

The sheer fact the bills took that line says they were willing to risk hard feelings and flat out rejection. It just came later

Hope the front office knows how to assemble an o-line. After Dawkins I’m not loving what I see

don't get me wrong...i was a cogs fan.  he was able to help this team at a very high level for a few years, and that appreciated.  the bills saw something going on and approached it wisely.  i'm not sure if he's acting out because there's no football, or if they saw something as just decided to part ways.  either way it looks to be the right move.  i mean, the guy is looking for work, only to lie about the teams that he's talked to, then makes a comment about how he doesn't want to be at camp.  he's not right at this point.

Agreed and understood.  Anybody who has any inkling as to the situation generally reads the statement and says "Oh f*** right off!"  Lost a really good foreman to politics years ago; the statement said he had 'decided to pursue other ventures'.  I think missy in HR was given a pamphlet on writing professional looking notices.
