I like the move and am glad we are buying low for a change. I hope we have something similar cooked up at OL.

Amen to that, Stuvi.

Even if it isn't a trade it would be great to add a legitimate OLineman sometime before the start of the season.

I thought he is more of an outside guy with his speed.  But if he is, why do we value slot guys so much? They are so easy to find.

I watched a bit of video and Coleman played some outside so i guess maybe he plays there?

I wonder if we will see this trade on Hard Knocks. I’d bet we will. Should be interesting...

Love this move by Beane. He grabbed a recent top 15 pick for what sounds like peanuts. Well worth the gamble for Buffalo.

And if he works out, we finally have a legit deep threat again.

Also Bills go workout Brandon Coleman as well see if he is healthy was released by the Saints. Keep upgrading that WR position group

Why are so many of you slobbering over Foster?  He’s shown very little in camp. He wasn’t drafted for a reason.

I’d like to see Reilly/DuPree/Phillips get a shot.

Agree, love me some Reilly. I look for him to do very well and hope he makes the 53. Hard worker this kid.

This trade shows us they dont think the rookies they brought in are ready. His speed will also make it tough for teams to key on Shady in the run game, teams will need to respect the deep threat.  If he is only decent the offense just got a lot better.

This is a smart observation. Although I'd argue the current roster has a blend of age, measurables, and draft statuses.

But for the sake of argument, if the GM is indeed trying to amass a roster of big, tall, and fast athletes, first and foremost...does that mean it's now up to the coaching staff to put them in positions to succeed?

True. Very true.

Good job Cleveland lol.

If they are trading him I don't expect much here. It also means our FO is really concerned about our WRs.

Kinda late for being "really concerned" don't you think?   They didn't bother drafting any WRs until the 6th and 7th rounds of 2018.   It's more like they're bargain hunting at a rummage sale.

They had 11 1st rd draft picks in 7 yrs between 2009-2016. NONE are still on the team. That’s almost impossible to do but they succeeded.

Holy hell. That team should be moved down to the AAF. They belong in the minor leagues until they prove themselves.

The Bills haven't done significantly better ...

2016 ... Shaq Lawson

2015 ... no first rounder

2014 ... Sammy Watkins

2013 ... EJ Manuel

2012 ... Stephon Gilmore

2011 ... Marcell Dareus

2010 ... CJ Spiller

2009 ... Aaron Maybin & Eric Wood

Not a lot of people on the last two Browns rosters had very good percentages. 2nd year receiver whos struggled with injuries and like 5 qbs in 3 years.

Yeah, I was going to say that poor passes by the QBs count as targets.

I still wouldn't mind the Bills bringing in LaFell, especially since it would cost them nothing but a salary.

This board was so happy to trade Watkins but is happy to add this guy.  Watkins at least produced, this guy hasn't.

But if it us a low round pick, the risk is low.

I still doubt they cut Zay. But maybe he is also moved for a low round pick.

Eric Wood, Dareus, Gilmore, Watkins...jury still out on Shaq

Regardless, the Bills have been the better team over these years.

I am still completely perplexeded on why Beane refuses to sign a speed guy to stretch the field that we lost with Watkins and Goodwin.  It took him about a year to address it.  Better late than never and hopefully being traded can give him an opportunity to resurrect his career so he isn't labeled another Browns 1st round bust.

All of these guys are still playing except 2.

3 are starters.

1 started in the SB.

1 sacked our QB on the playoffs

Why did you leave out the Tredavian Nightmare?

The reason they still aren't contributing here is because Beane traded them for draft picks.  Not because they aren't good.

I think there is a difference between flipping an underperforming top 5 pick with one year left on his deal for a 2nd and acquiring an underperforming top 15 pick with a possible 3 years left on his deal for a late round pick. It's more on the economics side of the game. Sammy is still the better player, but both guys played with less than stellar QBs and both have had injuries get in the way.

And as we see the bigger picture stuff unfold - trading away players to get draft capital so that we can take Allen and Edmunds - I feel like that justifies those types of moves. Just need to get the right guys. Last year was a good start. Let's see how this one plays out.

Hopefully, this is another "Browns Being Browns" move by Cleveland:

   https://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2018/08/corey_coleman_could_never_esca.html

CLE being down on Coleman because he broke his hand two consecutive years seems odd--what's he supposed to do, tell his bones to heal faster?   https://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2018/06/todd_haley_advises_corey_colem.html

The good news is, its a no risk move.   The Bills are only on the hook for $3.548 million in Coleman's salary over the next two years--essentially chicken feed.   At that kind of cost, he can be valuable even as a situational player.

Watkins was a move to get us some draft capital. We will see how his career plans out but it's a move we needed to make for the bug picture.

Goodwin left before Beane was here and I'm sure he wanted a change of scenery, or SF offered him a better deal than us based on potential. Goodwin wasn't fully committed to football when he was with us and now he is and he is playing well. It's kind of revisionist history to say it was a mistake to let him walk.

Bills will most likely grab a top 3 WR in next year’s draft.

Unlikely. They will draft OLB in first round.  Then DL, TE, and OT before WR.

Trading Watkins was a mistake. And Goodwin was committed plenty to football. He just did more in the off season than his peers. That said with his injury history I had no problem with letting him go.
