GoBills808
Cattle swimming 100% confirmed. Back in the day, before they had loading docks and trailers, they would drive the cattle down onto the beach and into the ocean and swim them out to the ship to be loaded by hoist. Cattle aren't the most graceful swimmers but they can definitely keep up with a horse. Fun fact: the history of cattle in Hawaii predates US mainland ranching by several decades. Cattle were introduced back in the ancient Hawaiian monarchy, and the Portuguese and Spanish influence led to the development of the traditional Hawaiian paniolo ('cowboy') style of ranching. It's still big business here, a bunch of the uncles are from old time ranching families and reading up on the history is pretty cool. Different style saddles, horse preference, the entire industry had a bunch of different influences from various ranching cultures around the world and it all mixed together here in Hawaii way before the concept of the American West came into existence, let alone popularized in media.
