Do you find the Saints logo/name offensive?

  1. 1. The name "Saints" is offensive to me because

    • It is a religious theme which has no part in the NFL
      6
    • It is a name that evokes violence and death
      8
    • It is a name that symbolizes a weapon
      6
    • I don't find it offensive but will stand behind anyone who is offended by it

Nver in a million years would I have considered the Saints name/logo offensive.

And resembles a weapon? I don't get that. It's a flower.

We get it! You think this is your playground. And you’re sick of 4chan or reddit or wherever you came from. I’ll mark you down as a troll and move along.

Wish I knew what you're referring to. Funny how some threads elicit a defensive response from posters. I’m not singling you out, so don’t take offense, but those who cast the stone of “troll” are typically trolls themselves. The point remains (referenced by @DC Tom and others), the Saints logo can be offensive and, if so, should probably be changed to something less controversial.

I'm offended by all the offense. How can we deal with that?

Yeah. I’m sure the owner of the Saints wanted a flower on their helmets. Nope.  The logo is actually drawn in an intimidating way (sharp points, metallic color, bold).

Start of training camp more important than offending those who disagree with such symbolism? And before you say “Relax”, I don’t care about Indians or cowboys, but this Saints thing really rubs me the wrong way. Needs to change.

The Buffalo Bills just submitted this as their new logo to combat the Offendables.

49ers have murdered each other over gold claims.

People have been electrocuted(Chargers)

Raiders Buccaneers have killed many.

Cowboys have killed each other and Native Americans.

Redskins killed Cowboys.

Meanwhile Saints are heavenly humans and the Fleur de lis used by New Orleans NFL team is paying homage to French Saints that used its imagery. French Saints used lily imagery and fleur de lis was adopted as a representational lily and used throughout France. And is on the city flag of New Orleans and all over New Orleans in many forms.

Patriots were Englishmen too, darn cannibals !

I am about as anti-religious as they come, but the name "Saints" is just a name. No need to be offended by it. It'd be like being offended over the Raiders or Bucs name because of what real pirates did in the past.

Are you offended by Redskins?

On a related note, I’ve aleays found it hilarious that the most liberal major city in America, San Francisco, is named after a Catholic Saint!!  Outrageous! Cue the protests

San Fransicko has bigger problems than being named after a saint.

Amazing how liberalism has destroyed a once great city.

As a Canadian I am very familiar with the dangers of the fleur de lis.

Exhibit A - Quebec flag

The fleur de lis symbolizes the conspiracy to turn North America in to a french speaking territory. It's already happening in Canada where the vast majority of yuppie parents have enrolled their children in french immersion under the deluded belief that their kids will get some high paying government job. To say nothing of the ransom Canada pays to Quebec to stay within Canada. As a result, our entire government is run by francophones for whom Canada is a flag of convenience. To add, Quebec has the highest income taxes in North America.

The last referendum very nearly took Quebec out of Canada. With the populist, anti-globalist sentiment sweeping the world I suspect Quebec will separate in my lifetime.

Beware my Americans friends, the fleur de lis must be stopped or you will all be eating croissant and drinking cafe au lait before you know it.

Yep, not offended at all but I am not religious.

And I am not offended by a fleur-de-lis either.

Glad camp starts in 2 days.

I find Jets to be offensive because it glorifies gangs. (Obscure reference to 'West Side Story.')

You won’t get an argument from me but you’d think that with all the statues coming down across the country of long since dead people that some of these snowflakes would turn against the sexist, religiously intolerant heritage of their now beloved socialist haven. Just like....Santa Monica, Sacramento, San Diego, and so, so many other California cities.

Yea...And those rascally 49ers raped the land in a capitalist quest for gold!

We should have had the option to vote for more than 1 option. I’m standing with the offended at the moment but if you’re offended it could be for multiple reasons. It evokes violence and death and religion and sport should be separated. The name was even cleared by the archbishop!!

Also, the colors are black and gold as a reference to oil aka “black gold.” There are more environmentally friendly sources of energy.
