They should start ejecting fans that don't stand for the anthem.  I see plenty of them every game.

Plenty of people pissing during the anthem!

Maybe the NFL should disclose how much money they took from the dept of defense without needing Sen McCain to expose that fact.

I am very surprised at the amount of people who are willing to have the National Anthem removed.  Probably the same people that wanted GOD removed from the Pledge of Allegiance and think there are 69 genders.  Such a sad state of affairs.

I agree

I’m Roman Catholic and would never think to have God removed from the pledge.  But it is funny that a country that was settled by people trying to escape religious prosecution is forcing religion down people’s throats

Customers can do what they want.  Customers don't have to follow rules set by the employer for the employees.

They certainly accepted advertising dollars- like they would from most willing advertisers. Why should the nfl be the charitable recruiting arm of the military anyway?

I'm going to say it and get labeled a racist, but African Americans, according to FACTS, commit more crimes than Whites, hence, more police interactions.  I'm sorry, it is simple logic

You can't use logic with some of these people.  They will say your narrative is off and your facts are made up even when you cite your sources.

Not me....I also don’t believe that a team can institute fines and suspensions that aren’t clearly defined in the collective bargaining agreement. This is a pretty broad interpretation on the Dolphins part. That’s where my beef is.

Personally, I don’t care what happens during the anthem. If they want to stand, fine. If they want to kneel, fine. If they want to stay in the locker room, fine. If they decide to stop playing it before games, fine. It doesn’t enhance the overall experience (expect Whitney in XXV). It is a polarizing topic. It’s like taking prayer out of public schools. People are outraged for a little while and then it goes away.

This is exactly right.  The outrage goes away.  Years after schools are in serious trouble and we never think back on what moment changed it.

Dab, honestly asking...is it a fact that they commit more crimes or could it just be they are arrested by police more often?

There's a difference.

You don't get it.

When you're at work you're an employee and have to follow the rules of employment.  During non working hours if you go to a business you're the customer and don't have to follow that businesses rules.  It's not a double standard at all.

I never said anything about religion.  I don't like religion.  I do however believe in GOD.  To me it is a difference

And if Tom Brady, Todd Gurley, Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers decided they didn’t want to follow those rules, the owners would crumble so fast.

Can you break that down further, like justified vs unjustified shootings/killings?  It would be interesting to see the results.

The number one driver of crime is poverty. That seems like simple logic to me. Call me classist.

So off of this argument you are saying most cops, judges, and jury's are racist.  That seems like a stretch to me (Unfortunately there are some who are I would imagine).  I think the reason why interactions are higher is a combination of education and where people live.  African Americans are more likely to live in a city and less likely to graduate high school.  Both of these factors contribute greatly to the odds of someone ending up in prison.  I think the real issue we face as a country is educating our youth.  If we start there I think everything else will fall into place and eventually balance out.

Do I think most judges wake up thinking “can’t wait to imprison some black people?” No.

Do i think judges, and juries and police are subject to biases that negatively impact that minorities more than middle class white guys? Probably in general.

heck, I recently saw a study on sentencing the Monday following the local football teams wins and losses and by golly if the saints won you were probably going home to your family sooner across a variety of apples to apples charges being compared. I say that to point out that these are all humans that can and will make unfair decisions based on influences that they may not be conciously thinking about.

Its a fair question. A hard one to quantify but absolutely a fair question.

And if the crime rates are relatively similar early on, do you then see issues like once in the system you are more likely to see more issues with the law in the future contributing.

like is suburban sally smoking weed at a party as likely to see criminal charges as her inner city counterpart dabbling after school? It’s hard to study and pull apart all the factors but there’s compelling data that the war on drugs has been much harder on one community while usage is not wildly different

Do you think that police officers would even bother to go into the inner city over weed?  Those cops are scared for their lives due to fear of getting shot by people that hate the police.  I don't buy that comparison at all

I'm not debating that - I think you're right.  Then if the employers "crumble" so be it.  No different than our jobs - the best employees have far more influence.

However if Brady, Gurley, Newton and Rodgers go to a baseball game - they can use the bathroom during the anthem if they want to and wear street clothes.  They can also stand with their hands on their heart during the anthem at a baseball game and if they don't like that some baseball players are kneeling, they have a right to not like that as a customer.
