HOUSE Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 (edited) How Sean McDermott won the Buffalo Bills' locker room back after starting Nathan Peterman Sal Maiorana, Rochester Democrat and Chronicle Published 9:03 a.m. ET July 19, 2018 (Photo: Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports) Story Highlights Sean McDermott's decision to bench Tyrod Taylor against the Chargers backfired last season. Luxy312 Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 I thought he just promised everyone that he recognized that Peterman was nothing more than a backup and would never start again. Seems like an easy fix. 1 1
GunnerBill Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Imagine what happens if he repeats the same mistake. 1 2
HOUSE Posted July 19, 2018 Author Posted July 19, 2018 (edited) I disagree it was a mistake. Tyrod Tylor was playing his worse football ever at the time. A week off may have been what he needed. Okay, in hindsight it was a mistake. Edited July 19, 2018 by THE SLAMMER space 8

Call_Of_Ktulu Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 We where going to lose that game either way, might as well give the rookie a shot. Taylor was playing bad and it was not out of the realm of him being benched. Add in HC Lynn's knowledge of Taylor's weaknesses and that the Chargers defense is a better version of a Jets defense that destroyed Taylor and you have grounds for a benching. 2
Sweats Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 I almost forgot the 3 game slide where we were out scored nearly 110-40.......and yet even with that miserable showing, we still made the post season. Yeah, I’m as shocked as anyone over that. 2
Happy Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Funny, not one mention of Rick Dennison in the article, who shoulders the vast majority of blame for the struggling offense as well as starting Peterman in the Chargers game. 1

McD is too classy to throw subordinates under the bus when owning decisions, whether publicly in interviews or privately to the team. Dennison's subsequent firing covered that issue. 2
Soda Popinski Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 Sometimes when you think things can't possibly get any worse....you start Nathan Peterman and find out how wrong you can be. I still applaud the idea, but the outcome was notsogood 2
Sky Diver Posted July 19, 2018 Posted July 19, 2018 (edited) Mills should have been arrested after the game as an accessory to an attempted murder. Edited July 19, 2018 by Sky Diver 2

Agree that the firing did say everything that needed to be said. But for completeness, it would be good if the media at least mentions Dennison as being part of the equation.
