Fadingpain
I'm not a big Tom Hanks fan. I have always wondered how he managed to end up in so many films given his talent level. I guess the answer is his movies tend to be financially successful, and that's how you get repeat work in Hollywood.

He's played: Jimmy Duggan, drunken Manager Captain John Miller, leader of the Ranger Unit in WWII Forrest Gump, lovable idiot Big, an overnight grown up who still acts like a kid Road to Perdition, a tough mobster who takes on Capone's gang. The Terminal - a foreigner trapped at the airport Philadelphia - businessman fighting AIDS Catch Me if You Can, a Fed obsessed with catching the thief Castaway, on an island by himself with very little dialogue. It was just him most of the movie. How are you seeing the same character? I see huge range. Just now, teef said: you've never heard of the money pit? I think he's one of the most talented actors of all time.

Henry Fonda was the same, didn't do any acting in any movie, he and Tom somehow were handed plum roles

DC Tom
Why are we asking this? He's not dead, is he? "Cast Away" is not my favorite Tom Hanks movie. But it is my favorite Wilson Volleyball movie.

My first thought was Big, so I’ll just go with that one.

I enjoyed You’ve got Mail a little more, but it’s not my favorite Tom Hanks movie. A little too predictable, and too reliant on the Meg Ryan cuteness factor. BillsFanM.D.
I'd probably pick Forrest but I'm surprised no mention of Apollo 13 yet. I love that movie but actually think Ed Harris was the best actor in that film.

I worked at the Bubba Gump restaurant in Los Angeles and it's filled with TV's. At the bar, they put on sports. In the general area, they're playing the movie. I worked in the restaurant for a little over a year....I probably have seen that movie 1,000 times. It just starts right over when it's done....and over and over and over. Didn't it get to be "like a box of chocolates?"
Buftex
I don't have a favorite... I will say, definatively, "Larry Crowne" has got to be one of the very worst movies I have ever paid money to see.

Blandings is a better version imho. Lots of great stuff going on in that flick. One of my favorite scenes is Grant's wife picking paint colors.
