I haven't seen a GP in 7 years.  See the dentist once every six months like clockwork though.  Priorities.

That's OK, if you take care of your teeth, you prevent a whole lot of other bad sh*t from getting started.

not at all, fine at 50, i'm not taking tests,  i don't need to drum up false positives

no interest in going through a prostate biopsy when there was zero legit problem.

Did one in Oct 2015 and then Oct 2017, so i guess i am on the every other year cycle.   I'm just north of 50 and I noticed my bloodwork is not as perfect as it used to be so I'd better keep an eye on it.

Yeah I know that I should be better.  I'm in great shape (that I know of) and eat very well.  My wife is basically a nutritionists and 95% of the time we eat very healthy.  She's a marathon runner so she takes very good care of herself.  My workouts are also intense.

When I got the flu over the Christmas break, my blood pressure was fine.

But I still need to go.  Heart disease and diabetes runs on both sides of my family.   However, of all the ones that had it....they were all overweight and ate terribly.

I'm in my earlier 30's and just started going back last year.  Both to the dentist and the doctor.  I eat and drink like Jim Harrison, but overall I was in good shape.

Just had mine last week. My work does an in depth biometric screen as part of our health plan, so I just forward the results to my family  Dr. and discuss any changes since the previous year.

I had to look up Jim Harrison because I never heard of him.

I thought it was a typo and you meant Jim Morrison....it would have applied too.

I try not to. By my late 30s, my docs (including all the specialists) had me going so often that it added up to over 30 business days per year. ?  WTF!?  So, I slacked off on all but the most important two, and I'm still alive and kicking. If you don't go, they can't find anything wrong with you. ?

if your family tree suggests you are bobsledding towards problems in your 40s and 50s you better get it checked out.

I just realized that it's been about 5 years since I've had a physical.  My insurance offers one free a year and for some reason, I haven't gotten one.  I feel good but that's still not a good reason.

I need to plan one soon.

If you haven't seen a doctor in 5 years, you should probably go do it soon.  Just for an overall check under the hood and peace of mind.

Remember, not every ailment gives you palpable symptoms, and sometimes it's the thing that you don't notice and let go unchecked that kills you.

My insurance is pretty decent, so I have been going every March for a comprehensive physical including a complete blood work-up.  The doctor hasn’t asked to stick a finger up my ass yet.  When can I expect that joyous examination to begin?  I turn 40 in February.

I go to the dentist for 4 cleanings/exams per year, and get 1 X-ray per year.  I have one tooth that’s going to need a crown very soon. It’s on it’s last filling....hanging by a thread.  My wife had a crown done this winter and it cost us $1200 out of pocket.  Yeeouch!

I’ve been going to the dentist (hygienist) every six months for many years.

After I turned 60 the annual physical turned into a six month physical. Cholesterol and blood pressure aren’t quite where they should be.  Good times.

Don't forget those colonoscopies every five years starting at age 50!   When the pretty nurse comes into the room (and there’s always a pretty nurse), I just lie there and wish they would hurry up and knock me out so I don’t have to think about what’s happening and what she’s looking at.

And since I’m nearsighted and wear glasses, I get eye exams every two years.

I’ve got good insurance, at least for the routine stuff.

I wouldn’t be so diligent about all this stuff, except my wife nags encourages me to go.

My last doctor (the guy who did the unnecessary surgery about 8 years ago) told me to stay away from doctors. I wish I’d stayed away from him, but so far I’ve followed his orders. I do need to start, and the wife is nagging me about getting a long term care policy.

No I haven't.  Right now I have no primary doctor and went directly to specialist for issue.

Partly it has to do with constantly changing health insurance.

I had Kaiser Permanente last year and HATED IT.

Unfortunately companies refuse to let you change companies during the year even when you are having issues with them.

I'm consistent.  Never have one.

Yes cadavers do not need them, just replenish the formaldehyde and other chemicals on a regular basis.

same

i'm kinda rethinking that one tho.  one of my cousins, only 29 years old, was in a car accident recently.  when they took her in for an MRI the doctors found a cancerous tumor on her kidney.  she didn't have any injuries from the accident but left the hospital missing a kidney
