I posted in another thread, in one of my little rants that modern leftists are not liberals, and Greg is a perfect example of what I meant. Instead of going off on another rant over the difference between leftist and liberal, I'll simply repost something that we were treated to a few days ago in another thread (sorry - I can't remember exactly who posted it). This is the modern American left: There is nothing liberal about those positions at all. Those of you who believe yourselves to be liberals - what do you believe describes your own philosophies more: the willingness to question your former administration, or the signage posted above? I've been saying all along, ignore a lot of what he says but look at what he does. He's at his best in two places---the campaign trail (which he's turned into his bully pulpit as president) and the board room. To use an old baseball adage, his way of tackling problems is to get them on, get them over and get them in. With all the forces lined up against him he is still winning.

This is the modern American left: Greg has come a long way in the years since we battled here. He's kept the good parts of "liberal" and learned that a substantial part of the liberal idea of 10 years ago was just a shitload of baggage. The work he has done and shared with us is phenomenal. I get a kick out of the idiots who venture down here and think they can do battle with him on any of the deep state related subjects. He's taken their lunch money so many times that he could probably retire. 1

If he keeps it up he'll be retiring in some serious style. On a more serious note, Greg is an excellent example of what bridges a real liberal with a true conservative. In most ways, the two are identical. How can one support support all the constitutional rights as a conservative without believing in all the freedoms of a liberal? People need to stop playing the stupid 'team sports, your guys vs my guys' politics and lean to $%#@ing think. 3 3

3rdnlng Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 A 1, and a 2 and a 3---Kumbaya. Really, we have a president who 8 years ago was a democrat who has the adoration of the evangelicals, the wall street wizards and the Joe blows. This reincarnation of Andrew Jackson is something that those of us who are at least somewhat new supporters are astounded by. The Never Trumpsters are becoming the Ever Trumpsters. Damn, these are interesting times.

It's been called a blessing, a quote, an ancient curse, and is a delightfully funny book by Terry Pratchett: "May you live in interesting times". It seems as if that's exactly where we are right now. 1

And we're not talking about "mistakes" we're talking about a long and storied history of taking direct intentional actions against the lives and interest of the American people. Lying us into Iraq was not a "mistake". The Bay of Pigs was not a "mistake." MKUltra was not a "mistake". Intentionally releasing the whooping cough in the Tampa Bay area was not a "mistake". Intentionally infecting Guatemalans with syphilis was not a "mistake". Injecting unsuspecting US citizens with plutonium was not a "mistake". Injecting prisoners with the main ingredient of Agent Orange was not a "mistake". Choosing to protect and insulate known pedophiles in government was not a "mistake". Dosing unsuspecting US citizens with LSD was not a "mistake". Overthrowing the governments of Iran, Argentina, Guatemala, the Congo, the Dominican Republic, South Vietnam, and Chile was not a "mistake". Running the global supply of opiates was not a "mistake". These are just a few examples of absolutely egregious and criminal acts undertaken by these same agencies you're claiming it is your patriotic duty to trust, and owe allegiance to. For me, it's NOT about the despicable nature of U.S. clandestine operations. -If it were, we'd have something to agree on. This is about Trump's perpetual displays of ineptitude, and political tone-deafness on the world stage... Every day he showcases his frightening lack of knowledge, skill, and patience for all things political... He could have opted to STFU next to Putin and go home a winner... But no... -Not Fred Trump's kid. Then, as if he wasn't disgraced enough, he offers up THE WORST 4th grade nonsense excuse as to why it all went down. Putin was probably ROTFL when he heard that. It's like you missed all the posts above. It matters very little what Trump says, which is usually moronic. You have to pay attention to what actually is happening, and on that front, the '80s phone call must have worked, because US has adopted the most aggressive posture against Russia since the Cold War. 4

I remember after Trump was elected I was talking to one of my democrat friends. She said she wished for more Obama as he was such a great speaker and Trump is terrible. I told her it matters more what they do than what they say. I then asked her wouldnt you rather have someone who was a terrible speaker who does good things, or a good speaker who does bad things? She chose the latter

She chose the latter There is a tremendous effort put forth by people who worry SO much about how the US looks to the world. They use the same phrases they use for their sports teams: "We're the laughing stock! We're a joke!" Most adults know that what people think of us, as sports fans or Americans, is a waste of time. You can't control many things, but for every person who was embarrassed by Trump this week, there remains a number of thinking adults who let it go because they're smart enough to know how to play the long game. As I mentioned previously, Helsinki will pass and Kavanaugh will be the new cry, and the thinking adults will gain steam because no matter how much a certain party likes to whine and cry and gnash their teeth, thinking adults tire of it quickly. row_33 Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 just another Summit, basically a total waste of time, as always
njbuff Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 (edited) According to the leftist hateful morons........... Trump was supposed to chokeslam Putin when they got to the podium and declare himself and America the winner as he stands over a fallen Putin with his foot on Putin’s chest. Just another Summit with another meltdown. That’s it. Edited July 18, 2018 by njbuff 1
keepthefaith Posted July 18, 2018 Posted July 18, 2018 From what most media are reporting, you'd think the meeting with Putin was set to discuss Russian hacking and only Russian hacking. 1
