PSA: Never Buy an LG Phone

Recommended Posts

They're garbage. I had a G2 that completely stopped working after 2 years. I assumed it was a fluke and got 2 G5s on a 2 for 1 deal through Sprint. Less than 2 years later one's been sent for repairs (just stopped working), the other has a defective camera and GPS, neither can hold a charge, and both have ****ty internet connectivity. 3 phones, 3 lemons. 100% bust rate for me.

By contrast, I have a Samsung S7 I've had 3 months longer than the G5s, also on Sprint. It's as good as new. Never had a problem with it. I'm using it to post this right now because the LG won't connect to the internet.

I'd rather pay full price for a Samsung than get a free LG.

FWIW:  My Samsung S6 craps the bed every 12-18 months... On third one now.

I have the replacement plan. On the S6 now... I probably should upgrade. It's the damn non-replaceable battery.. Probably can do it myself. Why, if they just send me a new phone.

When it craps out... I have a 6 year old or so S3 I go to.  LoL

On Verizon.

The screen on my iphone 6 stopped responding periodically a few months back ;  I guess Apple figured I haven't made a recent enough contribution.   Truth is I've never paid for one of my iphones, used to get it for free at my last job.

As much as I despise apple, my 6s has to be the longest lasting smart phone I’ve ever owned.

Yep... My wife's and two kid's 6s' are still kicking strong.  Got a 4s still going strong, gave to MiL w/second battery in it.  That's still going strong.

But Me... Hacking away on Galaxy S6 right now.  Android all the way!

I've had nothing but bad news with LG phones. (But their washing machines and dryers are outstanding.)

Frankly I got sick of buying expensive phones, outright or paid by the month. Most new phones today cost upwards of $800.

So instead I bought an unlocked MotoG5+ at Best Buy for $299. A year later it's still works great. I even dropped it in the pool once, dried it out and still runs fine.

Last night I bought a second burner phone at Walmart for a project. A $30 smartphone by Alcatel. First thing I did was uninstall or disable every crap app. So far works great.

I have never really had issues with any of my phones, I've used only android or BlackBerry. I never have a ton of apps and always have them in cases.

My wife always runs into problems with hers it seems. The kids always have it and she has tons of pictures, videos, and screen captures on it. After a while she complains about how sluggish it acts or issues with it.

Every time Apple decides I’ve had my phone long enough, they send out an update to kill it. I usually coincides with when I’m due for a new plan with Verizon. What a coincidence!

Ah Jesus, I just bought an LG this weekend.

Ive always had a Samsung, but decided to try the LG this time.

So, are you saying I should just throw it away?

I thought your people would have taken care of this for you... this is weird.

I would see if you can return it first, but yes.

You can't just drop a line like this and not elaborate.

My son has always had an LG and he loves it......never any problems with it That’s why I decided to try it this time.

If it turns out to be garbage, I’ll toss it and get something else. I get a new cell every one to 2 years anyways.

I've had great luck with my LG phones. The only problem I had was about 2 years ago when I ran my v10 over with the lawn mower.

My brother runs two phones, an iPhone for work and a samsung for personal use. He's happy with the iPhone, but hes on a new Samsung every 6 months for one reason or another.

I have a Nexus 5 made by LG that's still going strong after 5 years.  (Some mechanical wear and tear like the external power button croaked, but I worked around it.)

Looks like the wife pulls the strings in the family or “your” an idiot!!!

My wife had a G7 I think

With the first one, 13 months in the battery nearly exploded and her phone was cooking.

3 weeks later it’s hosed.

We we were able to “exchange” it for a “new” one. (refurb)    Not 6 weeks later and the replacement went bonkers just like the first one did.

I called them them up and bitched them out.

I still had 4 months of contract to pay on and $200 for the phone.

After 10 minutes of complaining and saying I didn’t want another piece of trash the agent gave me $200 instant credit and we ordered my wife a google pixel

No regerts.

I Like Android OS... Been on it since Cupcake.  Like Nova Launcher, the customization, etc... Used to use Go Launcher... (still got it, but too many ads).

I like control of my files... Able to root old phones, etc...

Rest of Familia are iSheeple.  Style over function...

I have a Samsung galaxy core prime phone that I use to this day, bought it 4 years ago for under a hundred and it does everything I want it to. Youtube, text, phone, games, pics, radio etc. It does have a battery that can be removed so that is a plus. I know of no one who has had a problem with a LG phone so?

Have heard nothing but good from the BLU phones so that might be a decent option. At this point in time, like TV's, they all seem to be using the same parts but just in different configurations.
