Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 I still say he has an agent lobby to get him the role of Ricardo Tubbs in the next 'Miami Vice' reboot.
aristocrat Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 always thought he was better than got credit for. couldnt get a qb but could build a defense. couldnt get a coach either 1
wppete Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Happy for Him. I’ve always liked Doug Whaley even though some of his moves with the Bills were not that great. 1

IOW as a member of the press once asked "What exactly do you do?" He will recruit kids to play in the Nflpa game which is a lower level college all star game that scouts attend during the the predraft evaluation process. It’s below the senior bowl and e-w shrine game.

CommonCents Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 So Whaley found a job recruiting guys who aren’t good enough? Perfect.

Dr. Who Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Whaley was a hard-working fella who was saddled with coaches he probably would not have chosen and new owners finding their way. On balance, he was a mediocre GM, but I don't think he was the disaster some appear to believe. Regardless, I have sympathy for the difficulty that must be involved in having to speak publicly when one is less than comfortable doing so. Folks ought to just wish him the best in what is not a particularly prestigious position. Those who take the opportunity to get in one last snide dig are pretty shabby, imo. 3 1

Weird. I don't understand why an NFL team would not hire this guy to be part of their Pro Personnel department. Unless Dougie didn't want to take a step back. Best of luck to Doug Whaley, but this doesn't sound like a great fit. This is totally accurate. He should be someone's Director of Pro Personnel and he would do a fantastic job. 1

B Fan in LA Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 This seems like a great gig. 40 hours a week looking for kids to play in a lower level college all star football game. What do you suppose his annual salary would be a for a job like that ?
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 Good pull for him imo... it will be another talent pipeline to the NFL.... can’t image how basically planning for one game and one week of practice per year is a full time job... but hey, good for him
B Fan in LA Posted June 20, 2018 Posted June 20, 2018 I wonder what his lunch time behavior is going to be like. I doubt he has to rush back to the office......

I think he drafted some good players. What do you suppose his annual salary would be a for a job like that ? I don't suppose it matters very much to him, unless he's a spendthrift. He signed a multi-year contract extension in 2016. Top executive/FO salaries are said to be commonly guaranteed.
