No skin off my nose.

Nor mine. I think him still being here next year would be bad for the Bills though, because I don't think he will ever be good enough.

If he is still here , it is because  McD kept him. I know it is your opinion that Peterman is not a QB , but  McD may have a different opinion. I If it proves that  McD does , i will take the word of the coach over  yours because you are in error about the progress of Peterman over the past year.

I think your sarcasm meter requires new batteries.

If cut downs were today yes I would cut Nate Peterman because at the moment we have zero evidence he can play Quarterback in the NFL. I think he will make the 53 for week 1 this year. I do not think he will make a 53 in the NFL for week 1 next year.

If he makes the roster this year as a backup then the franchise has gotten some worthwhile utility out of lat year's fifth round selection. As a starter few people would say he is good. But as a backup he can serve a useful role.

I don't understand the antipathy toward him as a player. As a fifth round selection he was a reasonable pick. You and some others act as if he being a fifth round pick was an outrageous act. It wasn't. No one is challenging the fact that he was overwhelmed in the San Diego game last year. You and other scathing critics of him treat that game as if it is like a tattoo and is a permanent fixture. It's not. It's simply a horrible game that many other rookie players have experienced regardless of position.

The problem I have with the few harsh critics of him is that it is very disproportionate to what his role is for this team. He is not our franchise qb, and never will be. That's understood. He may or may not start in the beginning of the season but everyone knows that if he or McCarron  starts it is only as a temporary placeholder for Allen.  There is also the possibility, not probability, that Allen can end up as the starter on opening day. But even if that happens there is still a need for an adequate backup. In my view both McCarron and Pererman can serve in that role.

Gunner never was high on Peterman. I don’t think that he expected him to have the worst half since the merger in his first half out. I guess that he was wrong.

Also, progress? He played 4 snaps in the most recent game, and fumbled, took and intentional grounding and threw a pick. That’s progress?

1 pick ia better than 4. Maybe this pre-season he will progress above a 50% completion percentage for the first time in any sort of NFL play? It's exciting isn't it all this progress?

I don’t think that he was a bad 5th round pick. I cannot comprehend how some people are okay with him playing? It’s like battered wife syndrome. I didn’t need to see more of Tuel or Brohm or EJ either. I certainly don’t need to see more of Peterman either. If he makes the team, fine. If he doesn’t, fine.

I just don’t understand why Bills fans always fall in love with Rudy? It’s not just Peterman. It’s Jasper, Hogan, Chandler, Gillislee, etc... Not all of them are horrible but we love those guys. We want them all to be Kyle or Fred Jackson. We hated Marshawn, Dareus and Sammy. I just don’t get that mentality? Every other fan base, in every other city loves stars. We love Rudy. I love Michael Jordan. I love Tiger Woods. I love LeBron James. I want dominance not guys overcoming long odds to be below average.

The most recent  " game with pads on Peterman completed 6 for eight  and was the  "toast " of the day . ( do not make any remarks). I don't know how you missed it Kirby.?

Kirby, Let it go! The San Diego game is in the past and he has moved on. If you want to reflexively bring up that game whenever his name is mentioned then so be it. To be fair you should also bring up the fact that he made some exceptional throws to Benjamin in the Colt game in arctic conditions that helped this team to qualify for the playoffs.

Few people are falling in love with this particular player. That's carrying out a position to a stupendously exaggerated extreme to make a negative point about a player. As a backup I am okay with him. And I'm comfortable in acknowledging it.

Dareus has herpes, that is all. Go on loving it. Although Dareus may pull his head out out of his behind and play some good football before he's done. He was traded for peanuts and that doesn't merit him being called a star. A star player might bring more demand then he did. Did I mention Herpes? I'd be scared to touch the guys autograph. Not even in the same realm as Jordan or LeBron. He doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as greats like them. Dareus hasn't even brought one organization to a championship let alone multiple. Dareus didn't go to the Jags and suddenly become the MVP.  Get that Dareus memorabilia now friends it's going to be worth a lot of money someday.

I don't hate Sammy Watkins, but I don't miss him either. I don't think he deserves to be called a star. He doesn't make headlines. Marshawn was actually a star, again not in the level of the greats but a star no doubt. So I can agree with that. People wanted to interview Marshawn and he stayed silent while Sammy ran to the media crying about targets because they didn't have any interest in him other then that.

Your correct, Peterman is just a potential Rudy, at least to me. If some one can call Dareus and Sammy stars in comparison to a giant like Jordan then I guess I don't feel so crazy for thinking Peterman could improve slightly over time.

I’m not comparing them to Jordan but each player was considered one of the best couple players in his draft class. Mayock and Scouts Inc. had Dareus  atop his class. Jeremiah had Watkins at 2. No one had those guys outside of the top 5 in their respective classes. They were blue chip prospects. We never gravitate towards blue chip players here. We never have. We fall in love with the underdog. Maybe that happens elsewhere but not anywhere else that I’ve lived besides Buffalo. In Boston they love Brady, Ortiz and Bird. In New Orleans they love Brees and Davis. We don’t fall for the HOFers like Jason Peters. We liked the idea of Mario but not the player. We hitch our wagons to the ugly duckling.

I’m just going to bow out of this thread because I’ve said my piece (1,000 times). I’d encourage you guys not to respond to me because I won’t be able to resist. I’ve made my feelings felt.

well, to be fair, when we have them, we do fall in love with the blue chippers.  Jim Kelly, Bruce, Thurman, Biscuit.

Perhaps it's a difference in perspective. You seem to be okay with backup QB that's not very good as long as he holds down a roster spot and is cheap.

i want a back up QB of quality that if our starter gets injured we still have a chance to win.  Frank Reich bailed us out a few times. The El Perfecto Fish played about half that season with a backup QB.

and as to Nasty Kate's first game being like many other rookies. Can you name one? As far as rookie QBs  go, it was the worst since the AFL/NFL merger.  But ok. Give him a pass on that. Playoff Game not tell you anything either? 4 plays. 1 run for 1st down on 4th and 3. 1 completion. 1 Penalty on bim. 1 pick.  Tough spot, but that's the gig.

Ironically this is almost word for word the same stuff I was reading on here in 2010 about The Beast.

I think this was kind of Kirby's point.

The people who think Peterman won't be the starter or be any good are probably correct. I still seen comments on the arm velocity being an issue in camp.

I always thought AJ would be the starter because of the experience he has. I'm not one that thinks Peterman will be a starter. I just think he got the short end of the stick when it comes to starting in the NFL. That is all. I wanted to see his velocity improved but because it seems it hasn't I'm not expecting much at all.

I never felt a disagreement with people that don't need to see another game of Peterman. I haven't heard anything that really proves any of you wrong. All I can say is that from his 5 interception game to the k.o. in the snow was a bit better.

why do you think this?

His stick was no shorter than Tuel Time's and was longer than Brian Brohm's, Bad Bad Levi Brown's, and Cardale Jones' sticks.
