But seriously, those 10-yard outs are worthless. Most of the time they are defensed/incomplete, barely gain yardage when they are completed , and not uncommonly pick-six'd.

Guys with talent get the chance to work through struggles. He will get every opportunity to prove that he belongs. Jeff Tuel got one chance. Not everyone gets equal opportunity. It was a simple joke. The guy throws a lot of INTs and would have started camp with a pick 6. I’m not going to derail this conversation though. There is too much camp left. The situation will play out in due time... As my basketball coach once said, if you’re 6 feet tall I will give you 5 minutes to show me you can play. If your 6’10 I will give you five years to show me you can’t. 2

I'm glad I'm seeing the velocity talked about all off-season...the reporters made mention of it too. Day one.
Ridgewaycynic2013 Posted July 26, 2018 Posted July 26, 2018 Switch that to 'huuuuuuuugggggeee' and maybe they can roll Fuccillo for some advertising dollars.

My guess is that the Bills don’t pick a guy until after the 3rd preseason game. The next month will be big. Probably fair to say that A.J. McCarron quietly had the better day of the group. 1

I’d say that’s fair (from what I read). He was certainly the steadiest (as to be expected). McCarron, to me, can be a pretty good game manager. He won’t make a lot of plays or mistakes. He’d be great security for a team with a bunch of weapons and a good defense (somewhere like Minnesota).
zow2 Posted July 27, 2018 Posted July 27, 2018 Wouldn't surprise me if Peterman gets a start. People focus on the Chargers game but he was playing really well in the Indy snow game until he took that ill-fated slide. I expect Peterman to fall into a Frank Reich type role player someday. I don't think he will be THE MAN, but he will be a very capable #2 for someone and earn a few W's along the way. 1

Still not enough zip to call that a good throw, even in terms of velocity. In other words, Peterman might be functional with great protection up front, but will still be a pick machine without one

He gets careless when under duress. He doesn't throw on the run well so on the rollouts...keep it short.

Designed roll outs are going to be integral and the QB's ability to escape AND get the ball out is key.

I'm sure his new-found throwing mechanics are still a work in progress and that he will continue to work at it against more intense team competition until it becomes second nature. Has Peterman thrown an interception so far in training camp? Edited July 27, 2018 by BurpleBull

Has Peterman thrown an interception so far in training camp? That pass should have been an interception and it was day 1. Was that a trick question???
billsfanmiami(oh) Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 If peterman is trotted out there....yikes....seems like a guy that does all the “right” things during the week, then just craps his pants once the real bullets fly. I think we’ve all been around someone like that in sports even at the high school level. His ceiling is a 3rd stringer, best case scenario bad backup. 1
BullBuchanan Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 I agree with you @BurpleBull I think this kid is going to rise to the top. I love the tenacity that he plays the game with, and the staff may view McCarron as too safe, coming off of Tyrod.I could see Peterman leading us back to the playoffs if he makes a couple plays a game.

Peterman found Cam Phillips on a rollout bomb in the end zone during 11-on-11 that brought the crowd to life at St. John Fisher.
Kirby Jackson Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 (edited) I said it earlier in the thread but this “QB competition” is totally irrelevant. IF anyone but Allen starts at the beginning of the year they are a mere placeholder. It may week 1, it may be a month, it may be more but this isn’t a “competition.” It is a matter of “when is Allen ready to play?” This isn’t a battle to determine the QB of the future; that has already been decided.
