Is 39 old?!  I suppose you’re as old as you feel.  I have pretty diverse tastes when it comes to music, and I do enjoy Skynard.

Comparing Young and Skynard to me in a no-brainer though.  Skynard=good, Young=great.

Similar to actors or professional athletes, I don’t really give a crap about their politics.  Do you?

I agree w/you.  I look past it.  But it does matter more w/music.  Music affects everybody different.

Musicians are storytellers... Not actors.  Both an escape... But lyrics aren't always created to escape.  They are created for you to think.  It's the musicans life (most of the time).  I like knowing their story... It helps me build mine. So yeah... Politics does sorta matter... Again, I can look past it... But like Woody scrawled on his guitar:

Now.. FWIW w/Young... It's not always a story... He has admitted just throwing things together because it sounds good... Now YOU make the story...

Neil Young made an album Zuma because he lived on that beach in Malibu. I never got to there but have been on other beaches near there.

I've been to Alabama's Gulf coast beaches and they are much nicer in my opinion, but not sure if Skynyrd ever sang about them.

And Olive Garden is a classy Eyetalian restoraunt!

Neil

But if you forced me to have to listen to their entire output chronologically i’d take LS

I would take Neil thru American Stars & Bars or Rust Never Sleeps over Skynyrd thru Street Survivors. Skynyrd had a great run though, no dogs there at all.

Agreed

A premature death means you didn’t have to struggle with middle age obsolescence

Never been to one.

But I prefer the comfortable white sandy beaches in Al. on the warm Gulf waters than the hot sand and cooler water Pacific ocean beaches in Cali.

But, no doubt California's are huge, attractive and definitely worthwhile.

Tell people they can teleport to any beach in the world and not one person would choose Gulf Shores, Alabama over the Golden Coast.

Not one.

Not even you. Not....even....you.

.....maybe, if one don't mind all the homeless hanging out by the public changing/bathrooms and begging at so many of Cali. more crowded public beaches near L.A.

Don't see that in Alabama's Red Neck Riviera.

Neil Young was/is a lyrical genius.  He tackled controversial issues with eloquence and grace.  Excellent guitar player.  Beautiful voice.  And insane passion.

Skynyrd was not devoid of talent, by any means.  Southern Rock bands, however, are one-trick-ponies.  Three part harmonies, Les Pauls, cheesy lyrics and guitar solos that usually last too long.

I could listen to Neil Young every day for the rest of my life and smile daily.

I could listen to Skynyrd every six months for the rest of my life and wish I was listening to the Allman Bros., instead.

I like Skynyrd, more than Young.  But you're not wrong.
