OldTimeAFLGuy Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 ...the Carolina Connection once again?....... Buffalo Bills named potential trade partner for Saints LB A.J. Klein by CBS Sports Updated 11:55 AM; Posted 11:45 AM By Ryan Talbot talbotrj@yahoo.com, Contributing writer A former Carolina Panthers linebacker is a potential trade candidate and CBS Sports' Ryan Wilson sees the Buffalo Bills as a fit. Wilson wrote about 10 post-June 1 trade candidates and listed New Orleans Saints linebacker A.J. Klein among the players who could be moved. When discussing a new home for the linebacker, Wilson mentioned the "linebacker-needy" Bills as a potential target. https://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2018/06/buffalo_bills_named_potential_trade_partner_for_saints_lb_aj_klein_by_cbs_sports.html
Aussie Joe Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Wouldn't want to give up much in a trade for Klein.. How would the Saints feel about Adolphus Washington? Linebackers with similar ability and pay packets will be cut between now and the season starting..
machine gun kelly Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 I seriously doubt it. Not for just depth. Besides we already have players. These speculations are just that.
Saxum Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 If it is anything it his agent talking to sportswriter trying to drum up interest before he is cut. 2
PromoTheRobot Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) Writer remembers Bills need LB. Forgot we drafted Edmunds. Edited June 7, 2018 by PromoTheRobot 1 1

thenorthremembers Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 Could have signed him last off-season and didnt. Doubt they give up draft picks for him now.
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 At this point I don’t know if we need him. Tre and Milano are every down LBs for the next 10 years IMO.
JoeF Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 (edited) Base salaries for the next three years are $4.1M, $4.1M and $9M....that's starters money and he's pretty limited to MLB. Its not just drafting Edmunds but McD loaded up on hybrid cover LBs with Neal, Julian Stanford, Corey Thompson--etc. If the Saints cut him Bills may take a look but a trade to take on those base salaries..no way. Golden Goat Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 If a receiver becomes a cutdown casualty (maybe from Denver?), I can see McDermott & co. making a move -- but it'll have to make sense to them. I don't see them as desperate. Whether or not we agree, my guess is they're largely comfortable with those already on the roster.
MrEpsYtown Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 I posted this idea on March 15th. It's in the archives. https://www.twobillsdrive.com/community/topic/203005-trade-idea-aj-klein/?tab=comments#comment-4960980 Anyway, Klein would be a good fit. He actually started at SAM for theSaints in their base defense and moved to MIKE in nickel defenses. He would be really good depth and a much better SAM than Lorax. It would allow Lorax to be even more of a part time guy and gives you functional depth if Tremaine struggles. Also, I love me some Milano, but he isn't exactly a proven player. I like his potential, but it's too early to be totally sold. Klein makes a lot of sense and while his contract seemed huge on paper, I don't think there is a ton of guaranteed money there.

I don't think Klein is a bad idea if they can get him for a 7th. The Saints want to unload his contract and need to trade him instead of cutting him. His Cap Hit is a little high but if they sign him I think that Lorax may be let go which would make it about a 2.5 million hit. Klein's 2019 contract $'s would carry no Dead Money so there is not a lot of risk. Edited June 8, 2018 by ColoradoBills 2

njbuff Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 Bills had a chance to sign him and didn't want him. Now they are going to trade a draft asset for him? Yep, makes sense. Fake News is now hitting the NFL off season.

These guys have to write something during the offseason....

thebandit27 Posted June 8, 2018 Posted June 8, 2018 I didn't want him last offseason, and my opinion hasn't changed. If you want to bring in a LB at this point in the offseason, let's go after Navorro Bowman or Michael Wilhoite.

Is 20 essentially a voidable year that both parties are not expecting to happen but helps spread a signing bonus a little?
