Glad the LA teachers got a raise and other demands.  Props to the fireman and celebrities for marching with them during the strike.

They got their raise, but the big issue that pulled at people's hearts -- smaller class sizes and supplies -- was basically tossed out, and charter schools (where real choice is available) is getting knee-capped.

According to the LA Times...

It was hard not to root for teachers on their demand for smaller class size, and they did make modest progress. But it’s going to take several years to scale up to a reduction of just four students, and that’s too long a wait for too small a change.

Nothing in CA that is promised in "several years" ever happens. (See "Train; Bullet; California)

You leftists have lost your freaking minds. The 'ban the MAGA hat' thing is simply embarrassing. Maybe you have a particular uniform you'd like to be worn by people you don't like.

Grow the hell up, you pussified chuckleheads.

CA: We're going to tax you for the dumbest stuff we can think up.

New Jersey: Hold our beer.

A new bill calls for the creation of local or regional storm water utilities, giving local counties and municipalities the power to collect a tax from properties with large paved surfaces such as parking lots, CBS2’s Meg Baker reported.

That’s businesses and homeowners.

The bill passed in the Senate and the Assembly and is now headed to Gov. Phil Murphy’s desk.

Doesn't Tom already pay a rain tax in Maryland?

I can't believe they figured out a drought tax for us here in CA.   They could structure it like the baseball luxury tax....it keeps going up the longer it goes without raining.

Yep.

I mean, I shouldn't have to...but the city put in a storm drain to handle the rain, and the easement is paved, so I qualify for the tax.

Yes, the feature installed to handle the runoff qualifies me for being taxed for features that inhibit handling runoff.

She Just Doesn’t GET It

by Linda Fox |

There is a woman – Diana Helmuth – who wrote a first-person essay for Curbed, a San Fransisco area website. She was telling the story of a dear friend of hers, who was moving from SF to Pittsburgh, and the trip to the airport that left her in tears at her loss of a close friend.

She had realized that many of her friends had left – 12 in all – and that they were generally not employed in the tech fields, but in relatively low-paid fields. Some were leaving for a job, others for a more affordable life. Some wanted to have a family or home, and realized that it was never going to happen unless they left.

So, 1 by 1, this women’s social circle is developing gaping holes in it. In her naiveté, she implores the residents who see fleeing CA  refugees to realize that they are good people, just hoping for a better life.

And, I’m sure she believes that.

They may have ‘good hearts and big dreams’, but what the resistant old residents of the new locations are wary of is the newcomers’ refusal to recognize several important things:

  • The state of CA has become ruined due to their own actions – voting in high taxes, limiting residential homes/apartments, zoning that keeps out affordable housing, overbearing Big Brother government, a prevailing ethos of “you BETTER watch what you say and do or we will RUIN you”.
  • CA has held its arms open to illegal immigrants, because cynical Dems want the votes, as well as the increased representation in the House of Representatives.

This. You left for a reason. Let go of the same ***** policies that caused you to move in the first place.

I’ve had it up to my eyeballs with the film industry in GA. Will Ferrell campaigning door to door for a candidate who’s policy never would have allowed for a film tax credit in the first place. GFY

This shouldn't surprise you. The reality is that today's Democrat is happy to explain to you that the problem with socialism is never socialism, but that socialist nations simply didn't do socialism right.

So when they move to Austin, for example, they're going to show the people of Austin how to do CA politics correctly this time. They they run for local office...enough CA transplants vote them in...soon the usual leftist SJW policies of taxing everyting to increase revenue and appeal to unions takes root, and presto....Austin is suddenly a CA city in the state of Texas.

From there, the virus grows until the former CA slugs decide they need to find another city to destroy.

And they call THIS, "Screw You, Californians!"

CA sees no way to get high speed rail up and down the coast, but how would the 100-mile stretch from Merced to Bakersfield like their own $77B train?

Quote

Newsom told a joint session of the Legislature that, for the high-speed rail, “there simply isn’t a path to get from Sacramento to San Diego, let alone from San Francisco to L.A. I wish there were.”

What's important to remember is that yes, billions have been spent on pretty much nothing, but friends of the government got their billions, and that's all that matters.

FU, CA. Can't wait to stop contributing to your embarrassing stupidity.
