Maybe they should look at it like flood insurance, but then again maybe they should examine the recent practices that have made such large areas susceptible to wildfires. So-called environmentalists have led the way to more frequent and substantial fires.

I don’t see the issue with this. They insure against a risk. That’s what they do. Yes we will insure you because we’re required to. Your premiums will $12,000 a month. They price risk. It’s what they do.

B-Man Posted February 20, 2020 Posted February 20, 2020 RARE SIGNS OF SANITY IN CALIFORNIA: That Freelance Job-Killing Law Is So Bad That the California Legislature May Dump It Next Week. But note this: Next week, Republican Assemblyman Kevin Kiley is hoping that enough California lawmakers have received enough blowback to put a stop to the madness…They should just blow up AB 5 and pretend it never happened, but Kiley’s a Republican and California Democrats have a supermajority. They can do anything they want – including destroying the jobs of millions of Californians. They couldn’t have destroyed more jobs if they’d planned it. Maybe next week the Assembly rolls it back. Stay tuned. .

The issue, I think, is that the government is forcing private companies to take on customers they may prefer not to take on. Private companies know the government that can force them to take on customers who don't fit their business plan/model can also, after the fact, force them to cap their costs and absorb the losses. If there is a true need to provide high-cost home insurance to high-risk homes, someone or some company will fill that void, or people will stop buying houses in high-risk areas. 14 hours ago, Koko78 said: Oh don't worry, the followup bill will make it a guaranteed human right to have fire insurance for $12 a month. If there is a true need to provide high-cost home insurance to high-risk homes, someone or some company will fill that void, or people will stop buying houses in high-risk areas. Oh I know the issue. As long as there is no cap on the premiums who cares? Insurance companies are masters at pricing risk. But I do see the point. Even life insurance companies will deny someone they feel is too high a risk. And people are NEVER going to stop buying houses in high risk areas. Those are typically ones in the hills with the views. They'll just go uninsured but the government needs to not bail those people out. As the preacher said in Blazing Saddles...."Son, you're on your own."
B-Man Posted February 21, 2020 Posted February 21, 2020 IT’S COME TO THIS: California Bill Would Require Occupational Licenses for Porn Actors, Strippers, Cam Girls. On Tuesday, Assemblymembers Lorena Gonzalez (D–San Diego) and Christina Garcia (D–Bell Gardens) introduced Assembly Bill (A.B.) 2389. The bill would require adult entertainers and video performers, including webcam performers, to obtain a business license and complete a state-mandated training course before being allowed to ply their trade. Requirements for that training would be developed by the state’s Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), which would, in turn, be advised by a new 10-member, governor-appointed board composed of two adult film actors, three dancers, two medical doctors, a therapist, and a money manager…. Gonzalez is also the author of the controversial A.B. 5 legislation that requires many gig economy workers to be classified as employees and not independent contractors. . Did I mention.........they're crazy .
