News today describes portions of America 2025

Man arrested in LA setting fires.

Man is illegal migrant from Mexico. We have found our villain

He was later reported as burning Xmas trees

He was described as using a flame thrower, which was shown in a  picture later as a small hand held propane torch.

These fires are a disaster of Biblical proportions. And given the forecasts for high winds, potential exhaustion of firefighters, and a lack of water, the carnage could spread further to other neighborhoods.

I saw estimates of financial damage from 130 to 150 billion dollars. The typical response to all of this is the Federal government will pick up the tab. How that will even work or be administered is uncertain. Who gets what, how much, and when is unclear. The economic impact on California and the rest of the US is uncertain.

Where are all these displaced people going? To friends and neighbors homes? Probably not to hotels and shelters already filled with "migrants" courtesy of the taxpayers. If these get booted out on January 21st where will they all go? Where are all the building materials and construction workers needed to rebuild these homes and businesses coming from? And where will the live once thousands migrate to the area for higher wages and work opportunities? Surely there's potential to impact construction costs and time lines everywhere in the country. Add in the intricate web of building codes, inspections, environmental impact requirements and I suspect most of these structures will take years, if not decades, or maybe not at all, to rebuild.

To this point, occupied by the immediate emergency, nobody has really thought through any of this and when they do there's going to be some serious consequences and challenges. Its going to be a total mess.

from Kurt Schlichter: There Is No Bottom For Blue California.

Now, you need to understand that experiencing the true fallout of government incompetence is not something that the kind of people who live in Pacific Palisades often experience. Instead, they are usually insulated from the consequences of their choices. Do you think bums, losers, and scumbags wander around in Pacific Palisades like they do in the rest of LA? Oh no. The LAPD has instructions to actually enforce the law in rich neighborhoods like the Palisades. They are disconnected from the utter chaos of the social pathology that the rest of the city experiences. They rarely have to face it, so they don’t really care about it.

But now the fires have come, and you think they might care about it, but they won’t care about it for long. They’ll get over it. They’re going to cry and complain a little bit about Governor Hairstyle and Mayor Dumb Bass, and then on Election Day, they’re going to look at their ballots, and they’re going to mark somebody with a D.

Do you actually believe politicfacts? The reservoir for the Palisades area is the Santa Ynez which is literally right next to the Palisades. It has been out of commission for sometime and did not have the 120million gallons of water it should have. Or perhaps everyone else besides politifacts is now right wing.

U.S. News and World Report ranks each state on a wide variety of categories. In the most recent assessment, California ranked dead last in opportunity, dead last in affordability, 47th in employment, 47th in energy infrastructure, 46th in air and water quality, 45th in growth, 42nd in public safety, 42nd in short-term fiscal stability, and 37th in K–12 education. The Tax Foundation ranks California 48th in its most recent State Tax Competitiveness Index. For five straight years, California has ranked highest in people moving out of the state, according to U-Haul’s data. BankRate found California was the 47th-best state for retirement. California ranks fifth-worst in roads and third-worst in drivers, second-highest in accident rate, and second-worst in drunk driving.

Yes I know it was out of commission. One of your buddies posted that the other day. Is that all you got out of that article? Even the guy quoted in the article you posted said it didn't have much affect.

but Marty Adams, a former general manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, said it is unlikely to have made a significant difference in the battle against the Palisades Fire, which burned through 20,000 acres as of Friday afternoon.

I just don't think book smart people get how stuff works.

Do you read what u type? In what world would a decommissioned reservoir used to hold thousands of gallons of water not matter when there is a lack of water? Your ignorance knows no bounds. What you're reading is nothing but damage control.

Did you read the article? I'm not the engineer that was quoted dipshit. You people need to educate yourself. He said it would have helped a little but not for long. Besides wurst are you going to do? Crucify someone because a reservoir was down for maintenance? Your isis pager is about to go off.

You have filled the role of the late Billstime rather admirably - minus the memes (thankfully) but also minus the ability to construct a coherent sentence. Keep plugging.
