You seem to be one of the last supporters of the “defund the police” movement. Are there any success stories you can point to that show this to be good policy? 1

If there are 20 hydrants on a line and 5 of them have hoses hooked up to them spraying water, the hydrants on the uphill, end of the line are going to be dry. The system isn’t designed to deal with this level of catastrophe. Same with the roads leading in and out of these hills and canyons. They can’t accommodate fire trucks going in while masses of people are going out. Changing infrastructure is damn hard to do and expensive. No one can predict where the next disaster will happen, but it will, somewhere, so we roll the dice and say, hope it’s not here. People live in ignorance or denial about climate change affecting them. No one anywhere wants to make changes until the sh_it hits the fan and now that has happened. Fire pushed by 60-90 mph wind is impossible to stop. Government at all levels is at fault, people living there are at fault. Maybe moving forward, better building codes will help prevent another one from happening. There’s a lot packed in here, but you hit the nail on the head: the local, city and state government is tasked with enacting laws and regulation to best serve and protect members of the community. In many cases, these people were elected by the people they represent. The question of competence v incompetence is a fair one to ask. It is exceedingly painful to have the debate while people are being impacted in such a horrific way, but if not now, when?

4th&long Posted January 11 Posted January 11 You idiots think fire hydrants were designed to fight Forrest or brush fires. You shouldn't be in this conversation. You would need to have a clue to talk about something. What is the number one toll they use to fight Forrest and brush fires and the couldn't the first few days? Not a trick question.

Any success stories you are familiar with stemming from cutting police budgets? If not, just say no. 2 minutes ago, 4th&long said: You idiots think fire hydrants were designed to fight Forrest or brush fires. You shouldn't be in this conversation. Any thoughts on why Gavin Newsome is demanding an investigation into the hydrants running dry? 2

The emissions testing thing was a complete lie. This is why Twitter is no longer a valid source of information. But hey, as long as some jobless loser from Missouri gets to have a check mark to be a special little boy, it’s all good. Spin and twist all you want. The ineffectiveness and corruption of progressive climate based policies is about to be exposed. People are not taking legacy media at face value any longer, and social media "fact checking" was proven to be a farce. This means that people can more easily see past the lies. That aside, we all need to stop letting our favorite news station tell us what boogeyman to be outraged at. Its up to everyone to find the best ways to prevent this from happening again. We have to address environmental issues in a way that does not harm people or create bigger problems. There has to be a rational middle ground between "drill baby drill" and leaving an infrastructure of a major city woefully short of water because of a smelt species (I already know that MSM is trying to dismiss this with its "fact checking", so spare me the NBCnews or CNN opinion that "proves it wrong", it is true). Hopefully, both parties can work together to find out what that is. Edited January 11 by dgrochester55

Seriously though if you can't see how messed up this situation is and how no one is in charge of the actual job they are paid to do you are not being honest. The top 3 fire people don't know how to fight fires, the lady in charge of the water doesn't know how it works, and no one has a plan to stop it. I just heard that the damage from this fire is more than the total insurance reserves for the entire state currently held, which means a lot of companies are simply going to declare bankruptcy if true. 2

For sure. And reportedly a lot of people didn't have insurance because rates were too high.

Last time i checked, they were intended to be more than a shiny thing for dogs to pee on. https://blazequel.com/fire-fighting-equipment/hydrants-and-risers/fire-hydrants/ They are intended to help with residential fires. If you have been paying attention, you may have noticed that HOMES are burning. PS: Forest has one R. Maybe you shouldn't be in this conversation. Unless you were telling us that you thought Forrest Gump was starting the fires. Edited January 11 by dgrochester55 1
