First, I never like to see the loss of property and especially and most important loss of life.

Having said that..why do people live next to them?

What am I missing? The folks in Hawaii.. I feel maybe I am missing something but I just do not have sympathy for them. I have not read enough about the tragedy in Guatemala, but that thing was active too no?

I have to  be missing something

They probably think it wont happen to them or wont be around when the next eruption happens

On a related note: why do homeless people stay in cold climates?

Start walking south, you moron.

They don't.  Why you see the sh*thole states/country in the south... Lack of empathy in lower latitudes?  It's warm, let them sleep on beach.  Most welfare states are based in harsher climates.

20 some active volcanoes at all times on the planet

So, all we have to do is stay away from those 20 some volcanoes.

Seems easy enough.

Good luck, everyone.
