He has no post-season career to speak of.

That's not going to help him get into the HOF.

But maybe that won't matter.

I predict he will be one of those players passed over for about 5 years then finally making it in.

he is certainly on track for HOF induction but I don't believe in anointing those who haven't earned it (written while wearing Bills SB victor t shirt)

‘To speak of’? OJ had 1 playoff game.

HE has been good, but has he been one of the best ever. I'm not so sure yet.

Currently I would put him in the hall of very good.

He will need to be in the top 10 all time rushing leaders when all is said and done for it to be considered, IMO. Which is likely.

Shady has to break the 12k barrier to have a shot at a yellow jacket.

Yup and I think he's said that that's what he needs.

The flip side is they are going to be very reliant upon him. Could be big numbers. He is THE weapon as long as he’s healthy.  Yes, other teams will focus on him.  We’ll see..... STAY HEALTHY!

Very true. My only worry is being THE guy with the worst receiver group in the league, a below average offensive line, and an inexperienced QB. Opposing defensive coordinators will load the box against this Bills team. There is no way you can allow Shady to beat you, as he is the Bills only weapon. It doesn’t seem like a recipe for big numbers.  It’s tough to imagine Shady averaging more than 4 ypg this season imo.

I hope that you’re correct because he will definitely be given plenty of opportunities. I wish I were more confident that it will translate to big numbers. Staying healthy will also be a big challenge for a back his age carrying a huge workload.

I think he has a legitimate chance to get in someday. As long as he stays healthy and can knock out another couple of seasons like his last two, he'll be within the top 10 in a lot of rushing categories. And I don't think playoffs and championships should weigh too heavily on it. Plenty of guys have made the Hall of Fame without a championship or playoff wins.

Only four career playoff games (all losses, with a 3.9 YPC and 1 TD) will make it hard for him to get in, IMO.

OTOH, if LaDainian Tomlinson can get in (10 playoff games, 5-5 record, 3.6 YPC, 6 TDs), Shady should as well.   He'll have to play at least 3 more years and hopefully get a few more playoff games to pad the the resume...

OJ's talent was generational and transcended statistical norms.    He didn't need playoff games to make his HOF case like Shady will...

Two more 1,000 yard seasons puts him in the top 15 rushing yards of all time.

Vinny Testaverde or Carson Palmer getting in?

I think one could argue mccoys talent is generational. not so much his numbers but his talent is. he's the only player over the last 20 years that comes into the discussion when you talk about guys that remind you of sanders. he's obviously NOT sanders but he's the only person I can feel okay about putting in that convo. he's most definitely been a top 3 back of his generation. I think he'll have a very strong case if he even just produces for 2 more seasons.

Earl Campbell and Juice only had 5 immortal seasons.  And immortal they were.

The RB role has fallen down a sinkhole over the last 15 or so years, it doesn't matter much any more for top teams.

he's gotta get about 3k more yards but he's gonna need some signature playoffs wins and hopefully we can get him those this year and next!

he isn't even up to Bills Wall of Fame status.

I think its making a serious comeback though. 3 years ago I would 100% agree. but the feature back is most definitely making a return. couple years ago you could only name less than a handful of feature guys and now the list is getting longer.

well if he can put up 3 more years with good production kind of like emmitt did late in his career he could get there. But he's gotta get a run in the playoffs to get there.
