Ranking Pre-Marv Bills HCs

Recommended Posts

These drought threads are short-sighted. what about the following list?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Buffalo_Bills_head_coaches

Since Marv represents the "golden age" of the franchise and we have ranked everyone after Wade... Let's see your rankings of those before Marv.

Lou Saban

Chuck Knox

Buster Ramsey

... no clue how to rank the rest...

Harvey Johnson

Let's hear yours.

Saban and Knox for sure.  After that Joe Collier was the best coach by far as he finished 9-4-1, won the division and lost to KC in the championship game the year after Saban left.  He struggled the next year as the team was being dismantlled, Kemp was injured and Lamonina gone.

He was at least an excellent defensive coordinator for both the Bills with Saban, and for the next 20 years with Denver.

Agreed with Bob.  Satan won us two AFL Championships and Collier did bring us far the next year.  Knox b/c he turned the franchise around when it stunk in the 70’s.  Too bad Ralph was so stubborn letting Knox go.  I was listening to NFL Radio right after Knox’s death and he was 112-62-1 with a winning percentage of .643, second only to Don Shula lifetime.

im sure eventually when he retires Belicheck will beat those records, but to not have Knox in the HOF is a sin.

Sorry Sagan not Satan.  Darn auto correct.

Saban was a great coach for the Bills, but a lousy employee.

He also couldn't handle Cookie, who was a rare talent.  22 coaching jobs in 50 years.

Still think in 67 Cookie had enough left in the tank that The Bills could have gone to SB I.
