At least according to this article (I didn't watch E3 announcement yet). https://www.express.co.uk/entertainment/gaming/972403/Fallout-76-online-Multiplayer-survival-single-player-optional It scares me that so many games are moving toward his online multiplayer though (and some only have online multiplayer, like elder scrolls morrowind (which I haven't even played even though I LOVE elder scrolls)). Like you, I just want to play offline. I don't really have a group of friends who game, and have no interest in trying to find random people to play with. Plus, like you said, there are too many people who just want to torture you. I remember playing 'Watch Dogs' for the first time. I had never played before and wasn't too good at it. Well I had no idea that people could just 'hack' your game and invade it. I kept having the same guy invade my game over and over and over again. I would have to try and search for him and find/kill him before the time was up and he "hacked" me, or got away. Well, even when I'd find him he'd just torture/taunt me. Then he'd lose me and show back up just before the time ran out and he won, just to torture me longer. I could never kill him, he was too good. Well finally after about 3 hours of him invading my game every 15-30 mins, I said screw it and quit playing (then found out you can turn off the in game invasions). But yeah, I just like to do my own thing. As far as I have heard (since the announcement).... its all online. I think the "go it alone" means you could team up with friends and explore together or just be a loner. I don't believe there will be an offline mode. And yes, its a bad trend in video games, IMO. Sports games have all geared themselves toward these "ultimate teams" things (and 'be a pro') where its kind of RPG meets sports and you upgrade your player or team by playing as much as possible... unlocking things and getting lucky to unearth 'rare' upgrades. This also opens the door to micropurchases. It seems more and more improvements and development are geared towards these modes as opposed to offline franchise mode. EA really bummed me out by making their World Cup game this round into a downloadable (free) pack into their current FIFA game.... but the add-on is a clipped and dulled-down version of the World Cup game they normally release (it includes every country, full qualifying rounds, nails the WC atmosphere, updates with current WC scenarios as the tournament is going on, etc). Another thing is how much storage space these games take up, as well as everyone moving towards digital. I can fit a limited number of games on my PS4. To pick up and play a game I might not have played in awhile.... I need to find a game(s) large enough to delete to create the space, and then install the game I want to play again, along with any updates, that also take up a lot of space (and sometimes take quite awhile to download). SlimShady'sSpaceForce
We don’t have all the details about how the social systems in Fallout 76 will work, but Bethesda’s Todd Howard has confirmed that you’ll be able to set up your own private games to play the way you’d like, but that ability won’t be available when the game first launches. I have zero interest in playing online (same reason I never bought Elder Scrolls morrowind, even though I love elder scrolls). Very disappointed in Bethesda. I was really looking forward to this game, too. IMO this goes against everything Fallout is. You are taking a great RPG that people have Loved for a decade + and totally changing it. How are you going to force the "lone wanderer" to play with groups of people? Edited June 13, 2018 by BillsFan4
Mark80
Kind of scared this is going to be as uninspiring as Elder Scrolls Online. Hope I'm wrong, but I won't be pre-ordering, will wait for the reviews. Elder Scrolls VI, which was teased, however, I'm all in on. May Day 10
I pre-ordered. What the heck? A new elder scrolls (blades) mobile was announced for the fall (to be ported to PC and Consoles) Elder Scrolls 6 in development (as a full game)

Its only in pre-production. They still have to release Fallout '76, and then another totally new game called "Starfield", which is still in production and doesn't even have a release date yet. After those games are released they will put their focus on making Elder Scrolls. So from what I understand it is still likely years away. Definitely sucks about Fallout '76. I'm so disappointed. lol Personally, I kind of hope it's a total bust and crappy seller, so that they go back to their normal single player Fallout games. Or for ****'s sake at least make a single player mode for one of the most popular single player games ever!
